Overview

This document provides comprehensive installation and user instructions for the ProAction Dishwasher, model PRFS125W. It covers everything from initial setup and safety guidelines to daily operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring users can effectively and safely utilize their appliance.

Function Description

The ProAction Dishwasher is designed for household use, aiming to simplify the task of washing dishes by automating the cleaning process. It operates by spraying a mixture of hot, clean water and detergent under pressure against soiled dishes. The water is then pumped through a rotating spray arm, drained through a filter system to remove food and soiled particles, and recirculated. This continuous process ensures thorough cleaning of various types of dishware. The appliance is equipped with a water softener system to counteract hard water conditions, which can otherwise negatively impact cleaning performance. It offers a range of wash cycles tailored for different levels of soiling and types of items, from heavily soiled pots and pans to lightly soiled crockery and delicate glassware.

Usage Features

The dishwasher's user interface is designed for straightforward operation. It includes an ON/OFF button, a program selector to choose from various wash cycles, and indicators for salt refill, rinse aid refill, and water supply status. Additional buttons for Start/Pause, Child Lock, 3-in-1 detergent function, and Delay Time offer enhanced control and flexibility.

Before First Use: Users are guided through essential initial setup steps:

  • Water Softener Setup: The dishwasher features a water softener to manage water hardness. Users need to adjust the salt consumption setting based on their local water hardness level, which varies geographically. This adjustment is made by rotating a ring on the salt container.
  • Salt Loading: Approximately 2 kg of dishwasher salt should be added to the salt container, followed by 500ml of water. A funnel is provided to facilitate this process. It's crucial to start a washing cycle immediately after filling the salt to prevent damage from salty water. An indicator light on the control panel signals when a salt refill is needed.
  • Rinse Aid Filling: The rinse aid dispenser needs to be filled. Rinse aid is crucial for preventing water spots and ensuring streak-free drying. The dispenser cap is turned to an 'open' arrow, filled, and then turned back to 'close'. An indicator on the dispenser shows the rinse aid level.
  • Detergent Loading: Detergent, specifically designed for dishwashers, must be added to the dispenser before each wash cycle. The dispenser has markings for main wash and pre-wash detergent amounts.

Loading the Appliance: Proper loading is key to effective cleaning:

  • Preparation: Dishes should have all food residuals scraped off, excessive oil or grease removed, and liquids emptied from cups and glasses. Dried-on foods may require a more intensive wash cycle.
  • Arrangement: Items with recessed or curved sections should be placed on a slant to allow water to drain. Cups, pots, and glasses should be placed upside down.
  • Upper Basket: Designed for more delicate and lighter items like glasses, coffee cups, saucers, and small bowls. The height of the upper basket is adjustable to accommodate larger utensils in either basket. Long items, serving cutlery, and knives should be placed on the shelf to avoid obstructing the spray arms.
  • Lower Basket: Suitable for larger, more difficult-to-clean items. Sharp items, especially knives, should be loaded with handles up to minimize injury risk. Plastic items must be marked "dishwasher safe." Glasses should not be loaded over dish rack pins as they may not be properly supported. Items with wooden or bone handles, or those joined with glue, are unsuitable for hot water. The spikes in the lower basket can be folded down for better stacking of pots and pans.
  • Cutlery Basket: Cutlery should be placed with handles at the bottom. Spoons can be loaded separately into slots, and long utensils horizontally in the upper basket.

Operating the Dishwasher:

  • Cycle Selection: After loading dishes and adding detergent, the user selects a wash cycle using the program selector.
  • Start/Pause: The Start/Pause button initiates or temporarily halts a cycle.
  • Delay Function: A delay time button allows users to postpone the start of a wash program by 3, 6, or 9 hours.
  • Child Lock: A child lock function prevents accidental operation. It is activated by pressing the Child Lock button for 3 seconds, indicated by a flashing light.
  • 3-in-1 Function: This button is used when employing 3-in-1 detergent tablets, which combine detergent, rinse aid, and salt.
  • Cycle Interruption: If the door is opened during a cycle, the appliance pauses and emits warning signals. It resumes operation 10 seconds after the door is closed.
  • Program End: The appliance signals the end of a program with a sound and blinking status indicator.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the dishwasher.

  • Unplugging: Always unplug the appliance from the power socket before any cleaning or maintenance.
  • External Cleaning: The external surfaces should be cleaned with a damp soft cloth. Abrasive products, solvents, soap, household cleaner, detergent, or wax polish should be avoided as they can damage the dishwasher.
  • Seal Cleaning: Food trapped in the seals can cause odors. Periodic cleaning of the seals with a damp sponge is recommended.
  • Filter System Cleaning: The dishwasher has a three-part filter system (main, coarse, and fine filters) that traps food particles. These filters need to be removed from the bottom of the dishwasher and thoroughly cleaned under running water. It is critical that the dishwasher is never operated without its filters.
  • Spray Arm Cleaning: Hard water chemicals can clog the spray arm jets and bearings. The upper spray arm can be removed by unscrewing a nut, and the lower spray arm by pulling it upward. Both arms should be washed in soapy, warm water, and a soft brush used to clean the jets before thorough rinsing and reinstallation.
  • Long Periods of Non-Use: If the dishwasher will not be used for an extended period, it is advisable to remove the plug, turn off the water supply, and leave the door ajar to prevent odors.
  • Moving the Dishwasher: When moving the appliance, it should be kept in a vertical position to avoid over-tilting.

Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the dishwasher not starting, not loading water, dishes not being clean, drainage problems, and unusual noise. It also lists error codes (E1 to E7) with their meanings and possible causes, providing solutions for users to address minor problems themselves. For more complex issues or if the problem persists, users are advised to contact the customer helpline or an approved service agent.
