Overview

The SLIMKOOL SK95MA is a 3-speed evaporative air cooler designed for efficient cooling through moisture evaporation. It operates on the principle of heat absorption by evaporating water, similar to the cooling sensation experienced after stepping out of a swimming pool. The unit pulls hot outside air through wet cooling pads, where the air is cooled by evaporation before being discharged.

Function Description:

The evaporative cooler provides a cooling solution by utilizing the natural process of water evaporation. It is equipped with a fan that draws ambient air through water-saturated media pads. As the air passes through these pads, water evaporates, absorbing heat from the air and lowering its temperature. This cooled air is then circulated into the environment. The unit features a 3-speed variable motor, allowing users to adjust the airflow intensity according to their comfort needs. It also includes an oscillation function, controlled by a middle rocker switch, to distribute cooled air more widely. The cooler can be filled manually or connected to a continuous water supply for automatic refilling. For optimal performance, the cooler should be positioned in front of an open window or door, with another open window or door available for air exhaust, to ensure constant air change and maximize the fresh air benefit.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Size: 45" x 28" x 17"
  • Weight: 120 Lbs.
  • CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute): 12,500
  • Motor: 3/4 HP 3 speed variable motor
  • Water Capacity: 42.3 gallons
  • Cooling Area: Up to 2,100 sq. ft.
  • Run Time: Up to 4 hours (on a full tank)
  • Control Switches: Rotary switch for motor speed (6 positions: OFF, Hi Cool, Low Cool, Low Fan, High Fan, Pump Only). Middle rocker switch for oscillation.
  • Power Switch: Controls power to the main controls, illuminated when ON.
  • Pump Circuit: Equipped with an encapsulated pump cut-off float switch; the water pump will not operate if the cooler is low on water.
  • Water Inlet Pressure Limit (for auto-fill): Maximum 50 PSI (a pressure reducer to 25 PSI is recommended if the valve is overcome).

Usage Features:

  • Pre-assembled and Ready to Operate: The unit comes pre-assembled, requiring only the removal of packaging and installation of casters before use.
  • Caster Wheels: Includes 2 locking wheels for stability, preventing movement due to air velocity.
  • Positioning: Requires placement in front of an open window or door with another open window/door for air exhaust to operate effectively.
  • Manual Fill: Water can be added via a front fill door using a hose or bucket, with a water fill indicator to monitor the level.
  • Auto Fill Connections: Can be connected to a garden hose, coil hose, or direct water line using a supplied hose adapter and float valve nipple.
  • Operational Modes: Offers various settings including "Hi Cool," "Low Cool," "Low Fan," "High Fan," and "Pump Only" for flexible use.
  • Dry-Out Function: Recommended to run on "FAN ONLY" for 30 minutes at the end of each day to dry out the filter and prevent odors.
  • Pump Protection: The pump is designed to operate even if the cooler runs out of water, preventing damage.
  • Safety Information: Emphasizes unplugging before maintenance or moving, avoiding use with wet hands, and not disassembling by unqualified electricians. Warns against using damaged cords or plugs, extension cords (unless UL listed and used properly), and operating near fire or heat sources. Prohibits inserting hands or objects into the rear housing when the blade is moving.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Cleaning: The cooler and pads should be cleaned at regular intervals. This involves shutting down, disconnecting from power, draining dirty water, and spraying out the tank with fresh water.
  • Pad Cleaning: Cooling pads can be sprayed with light pressure on the ground to clean them. It is crucial not to spray pads with water while the cooler is operating and the fan is running, as this can damage the motor.
  • Draining the Tank: A rubber drain plug at the bottom of the cooler allows for easy draining.
  • Cooling Media (Pads) Maintenance: Pads are made from special resin-impregnated craft paper designed for durability. Regular cleaning and maintaining water quality extend their lifespan. Inspection for calcium deposits or clogging indicates a need for replacement.
  • Pad Replacement: Instructions are provided for removing and replacing the cooling media, ensuring the distribution pad is correctly positioned at the top.
  • Pump Maintenance and Replacement: The submersible pump is mounted inside the tank. Instructions are given for removing the pump for cleaning the strainer cap or for replacement, including disconnecting from the control panel and re-securing cables.
  • Float Valve Replacement or Adjustment: Instructions detail how to adjust or replace the float valve, which controls the auto-fill water level. This involves removing the rear panel and ensuring the supply water PSI is within the specified range.

The manual strongly advises users to read and understand all safety information, warnings, and cautions to prevent personal injury or property damage. It also highlights the importance of proper disposal of components at the end of the product's useful life, adhering to all state, federal, and local regulations.
