Summary

Basic Maintenance Instructions

Precautions and Safety Instructions

General Safety

Treat gun as loaded, use barrel plug, wear eye/ear protection, store safely.

Barrel Safety Warning

Never look into the barrel while it is installed on the marker.

Gas Handling Safety

Use correct lubricants for compressed air; only experts should service cylinders.

Spontaneous Firing Warning

Inferno may fire spontaneously if energized without cocking; always wear safety goggles.

Dismantling Warning

Do not dismantle beyond barrel/bolt removal without ensuring it is unloaded and de-gassed.

Operating Instructions

Section 1: Preparing For Use

Ensure safety gear, set safety to 'safe', install barrel plug, cock gun, install gas/feed.

Section 2: Making the Gun Safe

Install barrel plug, tip gun, pull trigger while controlling cocking handle, set safety to 'safe'.

Section 4: Velocity Adjustment

Test velocity with chronograph; adjust using screw (clockwise increases, anti-clockwise decreases).

Troubleshooting

Ball Breakage in Barrel

Squeegee out the barrel. If in breech, clear jam, de-cock, remove hopper, pull trigger.

Gun Will Not Fire

Check tank connection, inlet pressure, hammer speed, mainspring, gas flow, bolt installation.

Improper Re-cocking

Check inlet pressure, hammer speed, mainspring, or potential mainspring issues.

Things Not To Do

Avoid dry firing, using liquid CO₂, or allowing the gun to run away.

Important Technical Note

Overview

The device described in the manual is the Inferno Paintball Marker, a paintball gun designed for recreational and competitive use. It is marketed with the slogan "Quality that speaks for itself."

Function Description

The Inferno is a semi-automatic paintball marker that uses compressed gas (CO2 or HPA/Air) to propel paintballs. Its primary function is to fire paintballs accurately and consistently, allowing users to engage in paintball games. The marker operates by a hammer and bolt system, where pulling the trigger releases the hammer, which strikes a valve, releasing gas to propel a paintball from the breech through the barrel.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Propellant: Designed to operate with both CO2 and High-Pressure Air (HPA). Specific components (Main Spring, Valve Guide, Hammer O-ring, Exhaust Valve O-ring) need to be changed when converting from CO2 to HPA using an "Air Conversion kit."
  • Velocity: The firing velocity is adjustable and must not exceed 300 feet per second (fps) to comply with legal and field safety limits. Velocity is influenced by factors such as temperature, weather, and altitude.
  • Exhaust Valves: Two types of exhaust valves are available:
    • Black (soft) seal: Recommended for temperatures below 80° Fahrenheit (26° Celsius) and input pressures below 1,000 psi. Offers good sealing characteristics at low temperatures and pressures, and its resilience helps cure leakage from dirt/grit.
    • White (hard) seal: Recommended for temperatures above 80° Fahrenheit (26° Celsius) and input pressures above 1,000 psi. Designed to resist extreme pressure and temperature, but may not seal as well at lower temperatures. The manual advises using a white seal in warm conditions if performance loss is experienced.
  • Construction Materials: The manual explicitly states, "NO ALKALINE OR SOAP CLEANERS ARE TO BE USED AS THIS ATTACKS THE ALUMINIUM PARTS," indicating that the marker's main components are made of aluminum.
  • Bolt Type: Features a "Quick-Strip Bolt" for easier removal and cleaning.
  • Safety: Includes a safety catch mechanism (pressed in from the left side to make safe) and requires the use of a barrel safety plug when not firing.

Usage Features

  • Preparation for Use: Users must ensure eye and ear protection for themselves and others, set the safety catch to "safe," install a barrel safety plug, cock the gun by pulling the cocking handle, install the gas supply and feed system, and check muzzle velocity with a chronograph before playing.
  • Making the Gun Safe: Involves installing a barrel safety plug, tipping the gun to roll the ball back into the feeder, grasping the cocking handle and pulling the trigger simultaneously while slowly letting the cocking handle come forward, then pushing the safety catch to "safe." Gas tank and feeder should be removed when finished for the day.
  • Firing: After preparation, push the safety catch to "fire" and pull the trigger.
  • Velocity Adjustment: An adjustment screw at the rear of the gun allows for velocity changes. Turning clockwise increases velocity, while anti-clockwise decreases it.
  • Anti-Siphon Tubes: For CO2 tanks, anti-siphon tubes can be installed to ensure only gas CO2 is drawn from the top of the cylinder, preventing liquid CO2 from entering the gun, which can cause accelerated wear, poor accuracy, and ball breakage. Installation should be done by a qualified professional.
  • Propellant System: The manual notes that air systems offer better shot-to-shot consistency and are less affected by temperature changes compared to CO2.

Maintenance Features

  • Basic Maintenance: Recommended after every game to prevent warranty voidance. A full strip-down is advised under adverse conditions.
    1. Remove Cocking Handle: Part No. 0034 from main body (Part No. 1310).
    2. Remove Main Bolt: Part No. 0045 should slide out easily.
    3. Squeegee: Use a Powerball Bow Tie Squeegee to clean the Inferno, ensuring all dirt is removed.
    4. Lubricate: Squirt a few drops of "Inferno-lube" on the long bolt.
    5. Reinsert Bolt: Place the long bolt back into the marker, ensuring holes face up and transfer port faces downward.
    6. Reinsert Cocking Handle: Push back into the long bolt; the knurled part should face up and click into the hammer.
  • Cleaning:
    • Exterior: Wipe clean with an oily rag or moistened sponge. Do not immerse the marker in water.
    • Barrel/Breech: If a ball breaks in the barrel, squeegee it out. If a ball breaks in the breech, follow specific steps for clearing jams, removing the bolt, cleaning paint and shell, and re-lubricating before reassembling.
    • Lubricant: "Inferno-lube" is specifically formulated for the Inferno, designed not to adversely affect seals and O-rings, ensuring correct functioning.
  • Disassembly (Full): Detailed instructions are provided for a full strip-down, including removing the loader, cylinder, barrel, cocking handle, bolt, velocity adjuster, mainspring guide, bumper, grip, bottom-line, grip frame, valve body, top cap, ball retainer, valve guide, exhaust valve, and spring. Reassembly is the reverse process.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual includes sections for common issues such as ball breakage (in barrel or breech), poor accuracy, leaks from the barrel, gun firing single shots then dropping off/going fully auto, gun not firing, low velocity, gun not re-cocking properly (fully-auto/burps), and double feeds. Solutions often involve cleaning, lubrication, checking gas pressure, or replacing worn parts.
  • Warranty: All Inferno markers come with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty for markers purchased from January 1, 2008, onwards. The warranty is subject to necessary maintenance as specified in the manual.
