Usage Features

The PACC60 hob is operated via touch controls, which respond to the ball of a finger without requiring pressure. A beep confirms each touch. The controls must be kept clean and dry for optimal operation.

Starting and Finishing Cooking: To start cooking, touch the ON/OFF control. All indicators will show "-". Select a heating zone and then adjust the heat setting using the "-" or "+" controls. If no heat setting is chosen within 1 minute, the hob automatically switches off. Heat settings can be modified at any time. To finish cooking, select the desired heating zone and scroll down to "0" or touch "-" and "+" together. The entire cooktop can be turned off by touching the ON/OFF control.

Hot Surface Warning: After use, an "H" will appear on the display for hot cooking zones, indicating residual heat. This serves as a safety warning and can also be used as an energy-saving function to heat further pans.

Locking the Controls: The controls can be locked to prevent unintended use, such as by children. When locked, all controls except the ON/OFF control are disabled. To lock, touch the keylock control; "Lo" will appear on the timer indicator. To unlock, ensure the hob is on, then touch and hold the keylock control for a while. In an emergency, the hob can always be turned off using the ON/OFF control even when locked, but it must be unlocked for subsequent operations.

Timer Control: The timer can be used in two ways:

  1. Minute Minder: Functions as a countdown timer without turning off any cooking zones. To set, touch the timer control, then adjust with "-" or "+". The timer indicator will flash, showing the set time. Once the time is up, a buzzer will sound for 30 seconds, and "--" will display.
  2. Cooking Zone Shutdown: Sets a specific cooking zone to turn off after a set time. Select the desired heating zone, then touch the timer control and adjust the time. The red dot next to the power level indicator will flash. If multiple zones have timers set, the indicator will show the lowest remaining time. Once a zone's timer expires, it switches off automatically.

Over-Temperature Protection: A temperature sensor monitors the ceramic hob's internal temperature. If an excessive temperature is detected, the hob automatically stops operation.

Default Working Times: The hob features an automatic shutdown safety feature for forgotten cooking zones. Default shutdown times vary by power level, ranging from 2 to 8 hours.

Cookware Selection: Use cookware with smooth, flat bases that sit flush against the glass and are centered on the cooking zone. Avoid cookware with jagged edges or curved bases, as these can scratch the glass. Always lift pans; do not slide them.

Cooking Tips:

  • Reduce temperature settings once food boils.
  • Use lids to reduce cooking times and save energy.
  • Minimize liquid or fat for shorter cooking times.
  • Start cooking on a high setting, then reduce once food is heated through.
  • For simmering, aim for around 85°C.
  • For searing steak, preheat a heavy-based frying pan, cook meat at room temperature, and turn only once.
  • For stir-frying, use a flat-based wok or large frying pan, have ingredients ready, cook in smaller batches if needed, cook meat first, then vegetables, and add sauce.

Heat Settings Guidelines:

  • 1-2: Delicate warming, melting chocolate/butter, gentle simmering, slow warming.
  • 3-4: Reheating, rapid simmering, cooking rice.
  • 5-6: Pancakes, sautéing.
  • 7-8: Cooking pasta, stir-frying, searing.
  • 9: Bringing soup to the boil, boiling water.

Maintenance Features

Care and Cleaning:

  • Everyday Soiling: Switch off the cooktop, apply a cooktop cleaner while the glass is still warm (not hot), rinse, wipe dry, and switch power back on.
  • Boilovers, Melts, Hot Sugary Spills: Immediately remove with a fish slice, palette knife, or razor blade scraper suitable for ceramic glass cooktops. Hold the blade at a 30° angle and scrape spills to a cool area. Clean with a dishcloth or paper towel.
  • Spillovers on Touch Controls: Switch off the cooktop, soak up the spill, wipe the control area with a damp sponge or cloth, dry completely, and switch power back on.
  • Important Notes: Always switch off the cooktop before cleaning. Be cautious of hot surfaces even without "H" indication. Avoid heavy-duty scourers or abrasive cleaning agents. Never leave cleaning residue. Remove sugary spills immediately to prevent permanent damage. Use extreme care with razor-sharp scraper blades.

Installation: The hob must be installed by qualified personnel according to regulations. The work surface cutout dimensions are 560mm x 490mm, with a minimum thickness of 30mm, made of heat-resistant and insulated material. A minimum 5cm space must be preserved around the hole. Adequate ventilation is crucial, ensuring air inlet and outlet are not blocked. A wooden insert, fixed by screws, must be placed at a minimum distance of 50mm from the bottom of the hob to prevent accidental contact with the hot bottom or electric shock. The safety distance between the hotplate and the cupboard above should be 600-750mm. The glue for furniture materials must resist temperatures not below 150°C. The rear wall and surrounding surfaces must withstand 90°C. Fixing brackets secure the hob to the work surface, and they must not touch the inner surfaces of the worktop.

Electrical Connection: The power supply must be connected in compliance with relevant standards, or a single-pole circuit breaker. An omnipolar circuit breaker with a minimum 3mm gap between contacts is required if connecting directly to the mains. The installer must ensure correct electrical connection and compliance with safety regulations. The cable must not be bent or compressed and should be checked regularly and replaced by a qualified person if damaged. The bottom surface and power cord should not be accessible after installation.

Disposal: The appliance is labeled in compliance with European directive 2012/19/EU for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). It should not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste but taken to a collection point for recycling electrical and electronic goods. Specialist waste disposal is required.
