Function Description

Power and Battery:
- Input Rating: Refer to the rating label on the bottom of the Notebook PC for specific power adapter compliance.
- Battery Type: Lithium-ion batteries are used.
- Power Input: DCIN jack for connecting the supplied power adapter, which converts AC power to DC power. This also charges the internal battery pack.
- Power Cord: Products with electrical current ratings up to 6A and weighing more than 3Kg must use approved power cords greater than or equal to H05VV-F, 3G, 0.75mm² or H05VV-F, 2G, 0.75mm².
Connectivity:
- USB Ports: Multiple USB 2.0/1.1 ports are available. USB 2.0 supports speeds up to 480Mbits/sec, while USB 1.1 supports up to 12Mbits/sec. Usage Features
Basic Operation:
- Battery Installation: Quick instructions for installing the battery pack.
- Power Adapter Connection: Instructions for connecting the power adapter.
- LCD Display Panel: Instructions for carefully lifting and tilting the display panel to a comfortable viewing angle.
- Power On/Off: Push and release the power button to turn on the device.
- LCD Brightness Adjustment: Use [Fn]+[F5] or [Fn]+[F6] to adjust brightness.
Navigation:
- Touchpad:
- Slide finger to move the pointer.
- Hold the left button and slide to drag selected items.
- Left and right buttons function like a standard mouse.

Recovery Options:
- Recovery Partition:
- Initiated by pressing [F9] during bootup.
- Offers options to "Recover Windows to first partition only" (deletes first partition, keeps others, creates new C: drive), "Recover Windows to entire HD" (deletes all partitions, creates new C: drive), or "Recover Windows to entire HD with 2 partition" (deletes all partitions, creates C: (60%) and D: (40%) drives).
- Requires copying data files and noting customized settings before use.
- Important: Do not delete the partition named RECOVERY.
- Recovery DVD (on selected models):
- Creation: Use the "AI Recovery Burner" icon on the desktop, insert blank writable DVDs (typically three are needed), and follow on-screen instructions.
- Usage: Insert Recovery DVD, restart PC, press [Esc] on bootup, select optical drive, and follow partition options similar to the Recovery Partition.
- Warning: Do not remove the Recovery disc during the process unless instructed, to avoid rendering partitions unusable.
Wireless Features:
- Wireless Switch: Enables or disables built-in wireless LAN and Bluetooth.
- Status Indicators: Front indicators show various hardware/software conditions.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning:
- Disconnect AC power and remove battery pack(s) before cleaning.
- Wipe with a clean cellulose sponge or chamois cloth dampened with a nonabrasive detergent solution and warm water, then remove extra moisture with a dry cloth.
Safety Precautions (General):
- Avoid placing on uneven or unstable surfaces.
- Do not expose to dirty or dusty environments.
- Do not operate during a gas leak.
- Do not press or touch the display panel; keep small items away from it.
- Do not place or drop objects on top of the Notebook PC, or shove foreign objects into it.
- Do not expose to strong magnetic or electrical fields.
- Do not expose to or use near liquids, rain, or moisture.
- Do not use the modem during electrical storms.
- Do not carry or cover a powered-ON Notebook PC with materials that reduce air circulation.
- Do not leave the Notebook PC on your lap or body for extended periods to prevent discomfort or heat injury.
- Do not use damaged power cords, accessories, or other peripherals.
- Ensure air vents are not blocked by paper, books, clothing, cables, or other objects to prevent overheating.
- The power adapter may become warm; ensure it is not covered and kept away from your body.
Battery Safety:
- Do not throw the battery in fire.
- Do not short circuit the contacts.
- Do not disassemble the battery.
- Incorrect installation of battery may cause explosion.
- Dispose of used batteries according to manufacturer's instructions and local codes to reduce explosion risk.
- Use only UL certified power adapters or batteries supplied by the manufacturer or authorized retailers.
Security:
- Kensington® Lock Port: Allows securing the Notebook PC with Kensington® compatible security products (e.g., metal cable and lock) to prevent removal from a fixed object.
Troubleshooting:
- If the electronic eject for the optical drive does not work, use the emergency eject (not for regular use).
- If problems occur with the recovery process, take the Notebook PC to an authorized ASUS service center.
