This telephone is set up to comply with the energy-conserving standards right out of the
box. These instructions are intended for California Energy Commission (CEC) compliance
testing only. When the CEC battery charging testing mode is activated, all telephone
functions, except battery charging, will be disabled. (For CL84115/CL84215/CL84265/
CL84365, only the telephone functions on the cordless handsets will be disabled.)
When rst purchased and properly installed for charging (see Battery installation and
charging on pages 7-8), put the handset in the handset charger to charge. The CEC
battery charging testing mode is activated while charging.
If you have registered the handset to the CL82115/CL82215/CL82315/CL82415/
CL82465/CL82515/CL83215/CL83315/CL83365/CL83415/CL83465/CL83565
base, below are the testing instructions.
To activate the CEC battery charging testing mode:
1. Unplug the telephone base power adapter from the power outlet. Make sure all
handsets are inserted with charged batteries before proceeding.
2. While you press and hold /HANDSET LOCATOR or /FIND HS, plug the telephone
base power adapter back to the power outlet.
3. Aer about 20 seconds, when the IN USE light starts ashing, release
/HANDSET LOCATOR or /FIND HS, and then press it again within two seconds.
When the phone successfully enters the CEC battery charging testing mode,
the IN USE light turns o and all handsets display To register HS, see manual.
When the phone fails to enter this mode, repeat all the steps mentioned above.
To deactivate the CEC battery charging testing mode:
1. Unplug the telephone base power adapter from the power outlet, then plug it back in.
The telephone base is powered up as normal.
2. Register your handsets back to the telephone base. See pages 9-10 for handset
registration instructions.
If you have registered the handset to the CL84115/CL84215/CL84265/CL84365 base,
below are the testing instructions.
To activate the CEC battery charging testing mode:
1. When the telephone base is in idle mode, press and hold /HANDSET LOCATOR.
2. Aer about 10 seconds, when the IN USE light starts ashing and the screen displays
Deregister all devices?, release /HANDSET LOCATOR, and then press it again or
press MENU/SELECT within two seconds.
When the phone successfully enters the CEC battery charging testing mode,
the IN USE light turns o and all handsets display To register HS, see manual.
When the phone fails to enter this mode, repeat all the steps mentioned above.
To deactivate the CEC battery charging testing mode:
1. Unplug the telephone base power adapter from the power outlet,
then plug it back in. The telephone base is powered up as normal.
2. Register your handsets back to the telephone base. See page 11 for
handset registration instructions.
