INNOVATIVE SPEAKER SELECTION
The speaker selector concept has been around for decades as a device
that enables you to connect multiple speakers throughout the home to
your stereo system, and turn the speakers on or off. A good concept,
but it requires you to either walk to the selector each time you want to
control the audio or use clunky volume controls at each speaker location.
Not anymore! Introducing the ATON
DLA Speaker Level Audio Router
with RF and IR control options - the most exciting advancement in the
history of speaker selector products.
RF AND IR CONTROL OPTIONS
Electronic controls on the front of the DLA provide true ease of use of all
system functions. But what puts DLA routers in a class of their own are
the additional RF and IR control options (see below). Using the industry's
first RF remote for a speaker selector/router, you can adjust audio in
each room with volume, mute, all on/off and unique "sound scene"
commands from anywhere inside or outside the home (up to 200 feet
away). By utilizing in-room IR receivers or Touchpads, you can control the
DLA as well as all connected audio sources. Also, a discrete IR codeset
**
is available for 3rd party learning remotes that provides room specific and
system wide control from one IR receiver or Touchpad location.
A "sound scene" is a programmable preset that allows you to create and recall your favorite volume
settings for each room with the press of a button.

ABOUT DLA TECHNOLOGY*
(DYNAMIC LEVEL ADJUSTMENT)
Unlike typical speaker selectors that use basic impedance correction,
the ATON DLA Router utilizes a logic circuit that actively monitors
how many rooms are on, along with their respective volume levels,
and delivers maximum available power to each room - simultaneously
protecting the DLA and the amplifier from damage. Each DLA room
output features an electronically controlled potentiometer, built with
the highest-grade materials available to ensure super-flat frequency
response and high power handling (125 W).
THE END RESULT
The DLA Router allows you to enhance your environment with rich
audio in multiple locations. You can enjoy the freedom of letting the
party be vibrant while keeping the kitchen conversational. And with
convenient RF control, ATON lets you relax so that you can finally
sit back...and listen.

PLUG AND PLAY
The DLA easily connects to your home theater/stereo receiver and
multiple pairs of wired speakers routed throughout the home. If you
already have a basic speaker selector, the DLA quickly replaces your
existing selector and allows you to play and control your favorite
music like never before.

Overview

The ATON DLA Speaker Level Audio Router is an innovative device designed to distribute audio from a stereo or home theater receiver to multiple speaker zones throughout a home, offering advanced control and protection features.

Function Description

The DLA Router replaces traditional speaker selectors, allowing users to connect multiple pairs of wired speakers to a single audio source (receiver/amplifier) and control audio in each room independently. Its core technology, Dynamic Level Adjustment (DLA), actively monitors the number of active rooms and their respective volume levels. This ensures that maximum available power is delivered to each room while simultaneously protecting both the DLA unit and the connected amplifier from damage. Each room output features an electronically controlled potentiometer, built with high-grade materials to ensure a super-flat frequency response and high power handling. The device supports various control options, including front panel electronic controls, RF remote control, IR receivers, and an in-wall touchpad, offering flexibility in managing audio distribution. It also supports "sound scenes," which are programmable presets for recalling favorite volume settings for each room with a single command.

Important Technical Specifications

The DLA series includes three models: DLA2, DLA4, and DLA6, corresponding to the number of zones they support (2, 4, and 6 respectively). All models share several key specifications:

  • Frequency Response: 20 Hz to 20 kHz, ensuring full-range audio reproduction.
  • Power Handling (RMS) per channel: 125 W, indicating robust power delivery capabilities.
  • Max Attenuation: -56 dB at the last step, providing significant volume reduction.
  • Dynamic Range: 43 dB over 12 steps, offering a wide range of volume control.
  • THD (Total Harmonic Distortion): <1%, ensuring clean audio output.
  • Amplifier Impedance: 4-8 Ohms.
  • Speaker Impedance: 4-8 Ohms.

Dimensions and Weight:

  • DLA2: 2-3/16" H x 8-1/2" W x 7-5/8" D; 5.7 lbs.
  • DLA4: 2-3/8" H x 17" W x 8-5/8" D (with feet) or 1-3/4" H x 17" W x 8-5/8" D (without feet); 11 lbs.
  • DLA6: 2-3/8" H x 17" W x 8-5/8" D (with feet) or 1-3/4" H x 17" W x 8-5/8" D (without feet); 13 lbs.

Usage Features

The DLA Router is designed for ease of use and flexible integration into various home audio setups.

  • Plug and Play: It easily connects to existing home theater/stereo receivers and multiple pairs of wired speakers, simplifying setup and replacement of basic speaker selectors.
  • Advanced Control Options:
    • Front Panel Controls: Electronic controls on the DLA's front panel provide direct access to system functions.
    • RF Remote Control: An optional ATON RF Remote allows users to adjust volume, mute, turn all zones on/off, and activate "sound scenes" from anywhere inside or outside the home (up to 200 feet away).
    • IR Control: In-room IR receivers or ATON In-Wall Touchpads (DLATP) enable control of the DLA and connected audio sources. A discrete IR codeset is available for third-party learning remotes, offering room-specific and system-wide control from a single IR receiver or touchpad location.
    • "Sound Scenes": Programmable presets allow users to create and recall their favorite volume settings for each room with a single command, enhancing convenience.
    • One-Touch Commands: Dedicated "All On" and "All Off" commands turn audio on or off in all rooms simultaneously.
  • Expandability: The DLA expands multi-zone audio system capabilities by adding speaker and control locations (sub-zones), allowing for a more comprehensive whole-home audio experience.
  • Room Identification: Adhesive-backed room labels are included for easy front panel room identification, simplifying management of multiple zones.
  • Dynamic Level Adjustment (DLA) Technology: This patented technology ensures optimal power delivery to each room while protecting the amplifier and the DLA unit from damage, even with varying loads.

Maintenance Features

  • 2-Year Limited Warranty: The DLA Router comes with a 2-year limited warranty, providing peace of mind regarding product reliability.
  • Slimline Infrared (IR) Remote Included: A basic IR remote (DLAIRM) is included with the unit, allowing for immediate control.
  • Rack Mount Ears (Optional): For the DLA4 and DLA6 models, rack ear kits (REKT) are sold separately, facilitating professional installation in equipment racks.
  • Firmware Updates: While not explicitly detailed as a user-maintenance feature, the availability of discrete IR codesets for download from atonhome.com suggests potential for software-based updates or configurations to support new control systems.

The ATON DLA Speaker Level Audio Router offers a sophisticated solution for multi-room audio distribution, combining advanced protection, flexible control, and high-quality audio performance in a user-friendly package.
