Overview

MMI Touch Display

The MMI Touch Display serves as the central interface for accessing multiple vehicle features and functions. It's a touchscreen system that allows users to interact with Radio, Media, Phone, available Navigation, Phone Apps, Vehicle settings, and more. When connected to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, the display seamlessly switches to the mobile device's operating system, providing access to associated functions and applications. Users can customize the layout by pressing and holding icons to drag them to desired locations. Swiping left or right navigates between menu pages, while pressing the Home button returns to the Home screen. The display also features a Quick Access bar for frequently used menus and a Status Display that shows information like connected mobile devices, data connection, and Bluetooth® activation. A Notification Center, accessible by pulling down the status bar or pressing its icon, displays status information and notifications, and allows management of connected devices, personal profiles, and date/time settings. Notifications can be deleted by pressing and dragging them to the right edge.

Automatic Climate Control

The 3-Zone Automatic Climate Control system allows separate temperature settings for the driver's side, front passenger side, and rear passenger compartment. The system activates when any button is pressed or a temperature dial is turned.

  • AUTO: Displays the set temperature and activates AUTO mode for each zone. Pressing again deactivates AUTO. Changing air distribution or fan speed also turns off AUTO.
  • 3-ZONE/SYNC: Toggles through 3-ZONE, SYNC, and Set Rear settings. SYNC applies driver's side settings to all other areas except seat heating/ventilation. If front or rear passenger settings are changed, SYNC is disabled. Set Rear allows front panel control of rear seat settings.
  • Air Distribution: Adjusts airflow distribution by pressing up or down.
  • Blower: Adjusts fan speed by pressing up or down.
  • A/C: Toggles between ON, OFF, and A/C MAX. Indicates when the air conditioning system is active. A/C only works when the fan is on. When off, air is neither cooled nor dehumidified, which can cause windows to fog. AUTO mode also turns on A/C. A/C MAX cools and dehumidifies the interior as quickly as possible, setting temperature to LO and increasing fan speed.
  • Seat Heating: Adjusts heat level with repeated presses.
  • Seat Ventilation (optional): Adjusts airflow with repeated presses.
  • MAX Defrost: Clears windshield fog or frost quickly by directing most air to the windshield vents and automatically regulating temperature. Requires sufficient engine heat.
  • Recirculation: Recirculates cabin air, preventing outside air entry.
  • Rear Window Defogger: Activates the electric heater in the rear glass, turning off automatically after 10-20 minutes.
  • OFF: Deactivates the climate control system. Rear heating and cooling can be turned off by selecting Set Rear with the 3-ZONE/SYNC button, then OFF.
  • Residual Heat: When the ignition is off, pressing the driver's temperature knob warms the interior using residual engine heat for about 15 minutes.

Steering Wheel Controls

The steering wheel features controls on both the left and right sides for various functions.

  • Left Side Controls:
    • OK: Selects tabs in the instrument cluster.
    • Thumbwheel: Scrolls through menus and presses to choose a selection.
    • Back button: Returns to higher-level functions.
    • VIEW button: Changes virtual cockpit display and opens/closes menus.
  • Right Side Controls:
    • Phone button: Makes or receives phone calls.
    • Thumbwheel: Controls volume and presses to mute.
    • Track/Station buttons: Selects next or previous track, radio station, or FF/REW.
    • Customizable function (*): Can be customized via MMI display (Vehicle » Settings & Service » Steering wheel button assignment).
    • Voice Recognition button: A short press activates MMI voice recognition, while a long press activates voice recognition with a paired phone.

Cruise Control

The cruise control system allows the driver to set and maintain a desired speed.

  • Activation: Pull the control stalk toward you to the ON position.
  • Set Cruising Speed: Press the SET button at the end of the stalk at the desired speed. The set speed and CRUISE indicator light appear in the driver information system.
  • Changing Speed:
    • Accelerate or decelerate, then press SET again.
    • Push the stalk up or down one detent for 1 mph increments.
    • Push the stalk up or down to the second detent for 5 mph increments.
  • Cancel/Resume:
    • To cancel, press the brake pedal or push the stalk slightly away to the CANCEL position. The CRUISE indicator light turns off.
    • To resume, pull the stalk toward you to return to the last set speed. The last set speed remains in memory until cruise control is turned off or the Audi is turned off.

Audi Adaptive Cruise Control

Available on equipped vehicles, this system combines speed and distance regulation to maintain a set distance from a vehicle ahead, braking and accelerating as necessary.

  • Turns on/off with the main cruise control. Turning it off also turns off traffic jam assist.
  • Displays in the instrument cluster via Driver assistance view on the multifunction steering wheel.
  • Setting the Distance: Tap the rocker switch to display current distance setting (five settings available). The last setting is stored when ignition is off. Increase or decrease distance with or buttons. A warning displays if the distance falls below the set threshold. The warning threshold can be set, changed, or deleted in the MMI touch display (Home menu » Vehicle » Driver assist settings » Distance warning).

Driver Assistance Settings

Accessed via the Home menu » Vehicle » Driver assistance. Depending on equipment, features may include:

  • Speed warning
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Audi pre sense
  • Side assist
  • Distance warning

Park Assist

Park assist automatically steers the car into parallel or perpendicular parking spaces using ultrasonic sensors. The driver controls gear shift, acceleration, braking, and monitors surroundings. Activated by pressing the P button on the center console, which illuminates an LED and displays the P icon in the Infotainment system. To search for driver's side spaces, activate the left turn signal. To switch off, press the Park Assist button again.

The optional MMI Navigation system offers user-definable views, routing selections, and more.
