Rear view camera coverage area
The rearview camera shows yo u the area behind your ve hicle in the
navig atio n syste m display. This are a roug hly cor responds to the area
in ~ page 89, f ig. 72 and (D ~ page 89, fig. 73. Orientat ion lines
an d colore d sur faces ar e projecte d in the a rea shown, whi ch can he lp
you with parking and maneuvering. Objects that located in an area
t ha t is not cap t ured by the came ra @ =>
page 89, fig . 73 and th at a re
closer to the bumper will not appear on the nav igat ion system
display.
We recommend that you practice pa rking with the rea rview camera in
a traffic-free location or park ing lot to become fami liar with the
system , the or ient at io n lines, a nd t he ir fu nct ion . There should be
suff icient light and good weather conditions when doing so.
In t he MMI d isp lay, objects or vehicles appea r closer or furthe r away
if:
Objects or vehicles appear closer or farther away in the navigation
system if :
• you are dr iving in reverse gear from a level surface onto an incline,
or a d ownwa rd slope,
• you are driving in reverse gear toward protruding objects.
The accuracy of the or ientat ion lines and blue surfaces dimin ishes if:
• the rearview camera does not provide a reliable image, for
examp le, in poor vis ibility condi t ions or if the lens is dirty,
• th e image on the screen is no t visible due t o sun glare an d re fle c-
tion .
Caring for the rearview camera lens
The rearview camer a is located in t he cen t er of the veh icle above t he
rear license plate bracket . In order for the rearview camera to func-
ti on pr operly, t he ca mera lens must be kept clean and free of snow
and ice .
• Dampen the lens with a househo ld alco hol-based glass cleaner,
and clean the lens wit h a d ry cloth .
• Remove s now with a hand brush and ice preferably with a de -icing
spray=>

• The parking system cannot replace the driver's attention. The
driver alone is responsible for parking and similar driving maneu-
vers.
• Sensors have blind spots in which objects cannot be detected .
Pay special attention to small children and animals because the
sensors cannot always detect them .
• Always keep your eyes on the vehicle's surroundings, using the
rearview mirror as well.
• Do not allow yourself to be distracted from traffic by the rear·
view camera pictures in the navigation system display.
• If the position and the installation angle of the camera has
changed, for example, after a rear end collision, do not continue
to use the system for safety reasons. Have it checked by an autho-
rized Audi dealer or other qualified work shop.
