Six Channel Line Output Converter with AccuBASS™ for
interfacing with factory installed audio systems
The LC7i transforms your under-performing factory audio sys-
tem into a supreme audio machine! It is a compact, six-channel,
high-performance active line output converter with AudioControl’s
patent-pending AccuBASS™ compensation that corrects the bass
roll-off present in many factory equipped audio systems. The LC7i
accepts up to six channels of speaker-level signal from factory-
installed ampliers or a source unit and converts it to a high-
quality, after market low-noise, pre-amp level signal that can be
fed to ampliers and speakers. You may also add an optional
ACR-1, remote level control, so you can adjust the output of the
bass channels from the convenience of the drivers seat. With the
LC7i you have a high performance audio system while maintaining
the features, functions and
aesthetics of your factory
source unit!
This manual covers the
features, functions, instal-
lation and usage of the
LC7i so please take a few

LC7 i Technical Specifications

Overview

The AudioControl LC7i is a six-channel, high-performance active line output converter designed to integrate aftermarket audio systems with factory-installed audio systems. Its primary function is to convert speaker-level signals from a factory amplifier or source unit into high-quality, low-noise, pre-amp level signals suitable for aftermarket amplifiers and speakers. A key feature of the LC7i is its patent-pending AccuBASS™ compensation, which corrects the bass roll-off often present in many factory audio systems, ensuring a smooth, seamless, and robust bass response regardless of volume level.

The LC7i is engineered to transform an under-performing factory audio system into a high-quality setup, allowing users to maintain the original features, functions, and aesthetics of their factory source unit while significantly upgrading sound performance. It accepts up to six channels of speaker-level input, making it versatile for various factory system configurations, including those with front, rear, and subwoofer speaker-level outputs.

Usage Features:

  • AccuBASS™ Compensation: This feature automatically corrects bass roll-off that occurs in factory systems at higher volumes. The LC7i includes threshold and level controls to determine when the AccuBASS™ circuit activates and the desired level of bass correction. Setting the AccuBASS™ involves playing music with a good bass line, setting the AccuBASS™ Level Control to the 12:00 position, turning the Threshold fully down, increasing the stereo volume until bass drops out, then slowly turning up the Threshold until the bass returns. The Level control can then be used to fine-tune the amount of bass restoration.
  • Speaker-level Inputs: The device has six speaker-level inputs that receive signals from the factory source unit or amplifier. If the factory unit has front, rear, and subwoofer outputs, these can be connected to the three sets of inputs on the LC7i.
  • AutoMode Circuitry: For factory systems with only front and rear speaker-level outputs, the AutoMode circuitry automatically routes the Channel 2 (rear) input signal to the Channel 3 (subwoofer) output, providing three output channels (front, rear, and sub) from two input channels. This can be manually bypassed if unusual speaker lead signals are present.
  • GTO™ (Great Turn-On) Signal Sensing: This feature automatically turns the LC7i on when it detects a signal on the main speaker inputs. This eliminates the need for a separate remote turn-on wire in many systems. The GTO™ circuit can be enabled or disabled via an internal jumper.
  • Remote Turn-On/Off: The LC7i provides a 12-volt, 1-amp remote output to power up external processors and amplifiers. It also has a 12-volt remote input for manual turn-on, which is useful if the GTO™ circuit is bypassed.
  • Level Matching Controls: Each output channel has a knob to adjust the signal level, allowing users to match the LC7i's output to the input of their aftermarket amplifiers. The goal is to keep the LC7i output high and amplifier gains as low as possible for optimal sound quality.
  • Internal Channel Summing: This feature allows users to combine multiple input signals (2, 4, or 6) from the factory source unit into two full-range channels for the main outputs. This is particularly useful for factory systems with actively crossed-over tweeters, mid-ranges, and woofers, ensuring a full-range signal for the new system. Green indicator LEDs on the top panel show which channels are being summed.
  • Optional ACR-1 Dash Mounted Control (Purchased Separately): An optional remote level control (ACR-1) can be added to adjust the output level of the bass channels (Channel 3/Subwoofer) from the driver's seat. It can be mounted under or flush with the dashboard.
  • Ground Isolation Selector: Internal jumpers allow for alternative grounding connections to address alternator noise that may arise from different grounding schemes between the source unit and amplifier. The default "Isolated" position usually provides the best results.
  • Maximized Indicator: A brightly colored LED indicates when the signal level is just below clipping within the LC7i. When properly level matched, this LED should flicker occasionally at maximum volume.
  • Compact Chassis: The LC7i features a compact design for easy installation in various vehicle locations, with controls accessible from the top panel.

Maintenance Features:

  • Warranty: The LC7i comes with a one-year warranty on materials and workmanship, extended to five years if installed by an authorized AudioControl dealer in the United States. To qualify for the warranty, the unit must be registered online within 15 days of purchase, and proof of purchase from an authorized dealer is required. The warranty is void if the unit is serviced by unauthorized personnel, if the serial number is altered or removed, or if the LC7i has been used improperly (e.g., physical damage, improper connections, or "sadistic things").
  • Troubleshooting Support: The manual includes a block diagram to help users understand the signal path through the LC7i, which can be useful for troubleshooting and when seeking technical assistance.
  • Online Resources: AudioControl provides technical videos and additional information on their website (http://www.audiocontrol.com) to assist with level matching and other installation aspects.

The LC7i is designed for enthusiasts who want to upgrade their car audio without replacing the factory head unit, offering a robust solution for signal conversion and bass restoration.
