Do you have a question about the Audiovox ACA600 and is the answer not in the manual?
Guidance on seeking professional installation for the rearview camera for optimal safety and performance.
Steps for connecting power, video cables, and optimizing camera angle for the best view.
The Audiovox ACA600 Rear View Camera is designed to enhance driver safety by providing a clear view of the area behind the vehicle when reversing. This camera is intended for professional installation and, once correctly installed, will automatically activate when the vehicle is placed in reverse gear. There are no user-adjustable options or settings on the camera itself; all viewing instructions and adjustments should be managed through the vehicle's monitor owner's manual.
The primary function of the Audiovox ACA600 is to provide a visual aid for drivers when backing up. It connects to a compatible monitor in the vehicle, displaying a live video feed of the rear surroundings. This helps drivers identify obstacles, pedestrians, or other vehicles that might be in their blind spot, thereby reducing the risk of accidents during reversing maneuvers. The camera is designed to be mounted at the rear of the vehicle, ensuring a comprehensive view of the area directly behind the car.
The camera's operation is straightforward and fully automated once installed. When the vehicle's transmission is shifted into reverse, the camera powers on and transmits its video feed to the connected monitor. This seamless integration means the driver does not need to manually activate the camera, allowing them to focus on driving.
For installation, the camera requires a power connection to the vehicle's 12-volt electrical system. The RED power cable should be connected to the 12-volt positive wire from the vehicle's white reverse lamp, ensuring the camera activates only when reversing. The Black power cable connects to a 12-volt ground point, such as a screw or bolt. The video output (yellow) connection from the camera is linked to an included extension cable, which then routes to the front of the vehicle to connect to the monitor's rear view camera input.
When mounting the camera, it is crucial to select a location at the rear of the vehicle that does not obstruct any existing equipment and allows for safe routing of the power and video cables into the vehicle's interior. Care must be taken to avoid blocking or obstructing airbags or any other safety devices during cable routing. All connections, including power and video, should be made inside the vehicle, as these connections are not waterproof.
If using the "flush mount" method, installers must double-check to ensure no damage occurs to surfaces behind the mounting location. The included drill bit is suitable for plastic bumpers and trim panels. For mounting in metal, a metal hole saw (not included) of 16.5mm is recommended. It is also advisable to cover or protect the area around the mounting location with masking tape before drilling to prevent cosmetic damage. After installation, the camera angle and direction can be adjusted to optimize the view on the monitor, and the mounting screws should be tightened securely.
The Audiovox ACA600 is designed for minimal maintenance. As there are no user-adjustable settings on the camera itself, ongoing user interaction is limited to ensuring the lens remains clean for optimal image clarity. Regular checks of the camera's mounting and cable connections are recommended to ensure they remain secure and free from damage, especially after driving through rough terrain or in harsh weather conditions.
It is important to note that all specifications and documents are subject to change by Audiovox at any time. Audiovox is not responsible for damage incurred due to incorrect installation or improper use. Rearview cameras are intended as an aid and assist for drivers, but it remains the driver's responsibility to check and double-check their surroundings before moving the vehicle. Always exercise due care when operating a motor vehicle.
