Do you have a question about the Auga VarioPress Pro E and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The AUGA VarioPress Pro E is a pressure filter system designed for ponds, integrating UV-C technology for mechanical and biological filtration. It is suitable for water temperatures between +4 °C and +35 °C. The filter is exclusively intended for private use, for cleaning garden ponds, with or without fish. The operation of the pressure filter requires a pump that pumps pond water through the pressure filter.

Function Description:

The VarioPress Pro E operates as a multi-stage filtration system:

  • Inlet: Pond water is pumped into the filter.
  • Vortex: Suspended particles and sludge are separated by centrifugal and gravity force.
  • Mechanical Filtration: Dirt particles are captured on the outside of the filter foam before the water continues on to the entire filter.
  • Biological Treatment: Microorganisms develop in the open pores of the filter foam (D1) and bio-balls (D2) or bio-cell (D3). These microorganisms convert ammonia to nitrate via nitrification in low-flow zones (yellow foam) and convert nitrate to nitrogen (denitrification) in high-flow zones (blue foam).
  • Biological Cleaning: Bacteria develop on bio-balls (D2) or bio-cell (D3).
  • UV-C Irradiation: Water is exposed to ultraviolet radiation from the UV-C lamp. This kills floating algae, germs, and bacteria, which can cause the pond water to become cloudy.
  • Outlet: Clean water is returned to the pond or watercourse.

The maximum operating pressure for all models is 0.3 Bar. The filter is designed to be partially buried, with the top of the filter housing remaining above ground. The UV-C lamp is designed for approximately 7000 operating hours.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: The filter should be placed on a flat, horizontal surface, ensuring it is not exposed to direct sunlight. The maximum height difference between the filter and the pond is 1 meter. The filter must be connected to a pump that can handle the specified flow rates and pressure.
  • Connecting Hoses: Transparent hoses for VarioPress Pro E-25, E-35, E-55, and E-70 models are connected using PVC fittings and glue. For VarioPress Pro E-15, flexible couplings are used. The maximum length for hoses is 10 meters.
  • Operation: The filter should always be filled with water and sufficient water flow through the pressure filter must be ensured before switching on the UV-C lamp. The UV-C lamp should only be switched on when it is completely filled with water.
  • UV-C Timer Switch (K): An integrated UV-C timer switch allows for setting the operating hours. The UV-C lamp operates 24/7 year-round in winter, or can be turned off. The timer switch can be set to 0 (UV-C lamp off), 12 (UV-C lamp on for 12 hours, off for 12 hours), or 24 (UV-C lamp on for 24 hours). A red indicator light (J) on the control window shows the UV-C lamp is working.
  • Safety: Always disconnect the pump and filter from the mains before any work. UV-C light is harmful to skin and eyes. Never look directly into the UV-C lamp.
  • Winter Period: In case of frost, the pressure filter must be dismantled and stored frost-free. Empty the pressure filter in autumn and store it frost-free or prevent the pressure filter from filling with water.

Maintenance Features:

  • Filter Cleaning (Rinsing): Regular flushing of the pressure filter is crucial. A dirty pressure filter can cause overpressure, leading to leakage and damage.
    • The filter foam (9) should be cleaned at least every week.
