Prepare the door by opening it to access the handle mechanism for replacement.
Separate the outer door panel and note the current position of the inner handle.
Locate and remove the two screws securing the inner handle assembly.
Carefully remove only the outer handle from the door assembly.
Fit the new outer handle, ensuring the inner handle is in its original position.
Reinsert and tighten the two screws through the inner handle assembly.
Drill, grind, or chisel out the plate retaining pins to access the springs.
Remove the top plate from the handle mechanism to expose the springs.
Carefully remove the broken or worn springs from the handle assembly.
Reattach the outer handle for temporary use until a replacement is obtained.
Press the silver actuator to engage the center tongue, causing it to extend.
Use the door handle to engage the top and bottom lock tongues, extending them.
Turn the lock barrel's internal snib or use a key to lock the door.
Locate and remove the screw that retains the lock barrel in place.
Carefully remove the lock barrel from the door assembly.
Remove the two screws holding the door handle assembly. Note inner handle position.
Remove the inner handle from the door assembly.
Replace the inner handle, ensuring the handle arm is correctly positioned.
Reinsert the lock barrel and secure it with the retaining screw.
