How to Change Aussie Traveller Door Handle

Open the Door for Handle Replacement

Prepare the door by opening it to access the handle mechanism for replacement.

Detach Outer Door Panel

Separate the outer door panel and note the current position of the inner handle.

Unscrew Inner Handle Fasteners

Locate and remove the two screws securing the inner handle assembly.

Remove Outer Handle Component

Carefully remove only the outer handle from the door assembly.

Reinstall New Outer Handle

Fit the new outer handle, ensuring the inner handle is in its original position.

Secure Inner Handle with Screws

Reinsert and tighten the two screws through the inner handle assembly.

Aussie Traveller Door Handle Spring Repair

Remove Retaining Pins from Plate

Drill, grind, or chisel out the plate retaining pins to access the springs.

Detach the Top Plate

Remove the top plate from the handle mechanism to expose the springs.

Extract Damaged Springs

Carefully remove the broken or worn springs from the handle assembly.

Use Door Temporarily

Reattach the outer handle for temporary use until a replacement is obtained.

Aussie Traveller Inner Handle Removal Procedure

Activate Center Tongue

Press the silver actuator to engage the center tongue, causing it to extend.

Engage Top and Bottom Tongues

Use the door handle to engage the top and bottom lock tongues, extending them.

Lock Door for Barrel Removal

Turn the lock barrel's internal snib or use a key to lock the door.

Remove Barrel Securing Screw

Locate and remove the screw that retains the lock barrel in place.

Extract Lock Barrel

Carefully remove the lock barrel from the door assembly.

Unscrew Door Handle Fasteners

Remove the two screws holding the door handle assembly. Note inner handle position.

Detach Inner Handle

Remove the inner handle from the door assembly.

Reinstall Inner Handle Assembly

Replace the inner handle, ensuring the handle arm is correctly positioned.

Secure Barrel and Screw

Reinsert the lock barrel and secure it with the retaining screw.
