Overview

The Clean Park® is a garage floor mat designed to protect the garage floor from various spills and debris, primarily from vehicles. It is essentially a large vinyl sheet with attached edge pieces that create a containment barrier.

Function Description

The primary function of the Clean Park® is to contain liquids and debris that may fall from a vehicle, such as water, snowmelt, mud, oil, and other fluids. This prevents these substances from spreading across the garage floor, keeping the floor cleaner and potentially extending its lifespan by protecting it from corrosive materials. The mat is designed to be laid out on the garage floor, with edge pieces forming a raised barrier around its perimeter. This barrier ensures that any liquids or solids are trapped within the mat's surface.

Important Technical Specifications

The Clean Park® is available in two main material thicknesses:

  • 50 mil mat: This thicker version comes with a three (3) year limited warranty.
  • 20 mil mat: This thinner version comes with a one (1) year limited warranty.

The mat itself is a vinyl sheet. The edge pieces are designed to be attached to the perimeter of the vinyl sheet to create the containment barrier. These edge pieces include:

  • Small V-shaped side pieces (approximately 2.5" long) for the front edge.
  • Bottom ramp sections (mushroom-shaped profile) and corresponding top ramp sections, which form the main ramped edges.
  • Long V-shaped side pieces (approximately 24" long) for the side edges.
  • Short V-shaped pieces (approximately 18" long) for the end farthest from the street.

The mat can be shortened in 2-foot increments by omitting long V-shaped side pieces and cutting the vinyl sheet accordingly.

Usage Features

The Clean Park® is designed for easy assembly and use.

Assembly:

  1. Preparation: The garage floor should be swept or vacuumed, and any cracks should be repaired or covered with duct tape.
  2. Edge Piece Layout: All edge pieces should be laid out before beginning assembly.
  3. Front Edge Assembly: A small V-shaped side piece is attached to the front edge of the mat, 2" in from the left side.
  4. Ramp Section Assembly: Bottom ramp sections are slid under the mat, butting against the V-shaped side piece and aligning with its tallest part. Top ramp sections are then snapped onto the bottom sections. This process continues for all ramp sections, with another small V-shaped side piece attached next to the last ramp section.
  5. Side Edge Assembly: Long V-shaped side pieces are attached along the left and right sides of the mat, starting next to the previously installed small V-shaped side piece.
  6. Rear Edge Customization: The vinyl sheet at the end farthest from the street can be cut down to protrude 1½" beyond the last long V-shaped side piece.
  7. Rear Edge Assembly: Short V-shaped pieces are attached to the end farthest from the street.

Cold Weather Assembly Tip: In extremely cold weather, the vinyl sheet may become stiff. To soften it, bring the sheet inside to warm up to room temperature or use a hair dryer to blow warm air along the sheet as edge pieces are attached. A heat gun should not be used.

Important Usage Warnings:

  • Slippery When Wet: The Clean Park® is slippery when wet.
  • Snow Chains/Studded Tires: For use with snow chains or studded snow tires, Protector Strips must be purchased separately from Auto Care Products, Inc.
  • Tire Turning: Do not turn front tires while the vehicle is stationary on the Clean Park®.
  • Punctures: Rocks and other sharp objects can puncture the Clean Park®. Regular sweeping is recommended to remove debris.

Maintenance Features

Maintaining the Clean Park® involves regular cleaning and adherence to specific guidelines to ensure its longevity and effectiveness.

Cleaning Instructions:

  1. Remove End Pieces: For cleaning, one or more of the end pieces closest to the garage door can be removed. Care should be taken not to puncture or cut the vinyl sheeting with the edge of the top piece when pulling it off.
  2. Sweeping: Sweep the Clean Park® with a soft bristle broom to remove loose debris.
  3. Hosing Off: Hose off the Clean Park®. Use a soft bristle broom to push water towards the open area and off the mat.
  4. Soap Use: Only a mild dish soap may be used for cleaning.
  5. Prohibited Cleaners: Do not use solvents, harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or bleach, as these can damage the vinyl material.

Other Maintenance Notes:

  • Discoloration: Discoloration of the vinyl sheeting may occur over time. This is considered normal and does not affect the integrity of the material.
  • Tire Impressions: Tire impressions made on the vinyl sheeting are considered normal wear and tear.
  • Puncture Prevention: Regularly remove debris by sweeping with a soft bristle broom to avoid punctures from rocks and other sharp objects.

Warranty and Support:

The Clean Park® comes with a limited warranty (3 years for 50 mil, 1 year for 20 mil) covering defects in material and workmanship for the original purchaser. The warranty does not cover improper installation, placement on uneven surfaces, improper use, use with snow chains/studded tires without protector strips, punctures, use of solvents/harsh chemicals, normal wear and tear, discoloration, or tire impressions.

For warranty claims or defects, contact Auto Care Products, Inc. to request a Return Authorization Number. Returns without this number will not be accepted. The customer is responsible for shipping costs, including insurance, for returned parts. Auto Care Products, Inc. will repair or replace defective parts as deemed necessary upon receipt.
