Function Description

Avantco Panini Grills are commercial-grade appliances designed for grilling sandwiches and other foods. The 'T' models include a built-in timer for enhanced cooking control.

Usage Features

The panini grills are designed for straightforward operation:

  • Power Connection: Ensure the power cord is properly connected to a 120V, 60 Hz grounded power outlet. A suitable circuit protector (fuse, circuit breaker) should be located nearby.
  • Power On/Off: The machine is turned on using a power switch, which illuminates to indicate power availability.
  • Temperature Control: Users can set the desired temperature using a control knob. A heating indicator light comes on during the warm-up period (approximately 20 minutes) and cycles at the set temperature.
  • Preheating: Before first use, the grill plates are coated with a food-safe oil for transportation protection. This oil must be removed by preheating the grill until the oil liquefies, then carefully wiping it away with a clean, soft cloth.
  • Cooking Process: Lightly grease the grill plates with vegetable oil. Place food on the grill and gently press the handle down. Excess oil collects in a designated grease collection tray. The heating elements automatically cycle to maintain the set temperature.
  • Timer Functionality (for 'T' models):
    • The timer can be set for up to 15 minutes using up and down arrow buttons. Holding the buttons for 3 seconds enables fast scrolling.
    • Pressing the "start/stop" button begins or pauses the timer.
    • The timer beeps continuously when time is up until the "reset" button is pressed.
    • The timer does not turn off the grills; they continue to heat.
    • Hitting "reset" returns the timer to the last inputted time.

Maintenance Features

Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the panini grill:

  • Cool Down: Always disconnect the machine and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Cleaning: Use only a damp towel with a non-corrosive cleaner. Do not immerse the machine in water or spray water directly onto the grills, as this can cause short circuits and damage. Wipe down the outside surface to remove any soil.
  • Storage: Store the grill in a dry, clean area when not in use.
  • Daily Check: Before each use, visually inspect the power cord for any signs of damage or fraying. Ensure the machine is placed on a level countertop. Check for any unusual operation after turning it on. If any operational questions arise, the machine should not be used.
  • Specialized Cleaner: The manual recommends "NOBLE FORMULA-D" decarbonizer and degreaser for tackling tough grease, oil, and carbon on ovens, grills, and hoods.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Unplug the machine during thunderstorms.
    • Avoid damaging controls or grill surfaces with sharp/heavy objects.
    • Do not use the machine with a damaged power cord.
    • Any internal repairs or maintenance should only be performed by a factory-authorized repair technician.
    • The panini grill is not intended for use by children or individuals with impaired mental/motor skills without supervision.
    • Do not place hard objects on the grill or slam it closed.
    • The body and grill plates are hot during use and can cause burns.
    • Do not use caustic or abrasive products for cleaning.
    • Do not store or use flammable liquids or gases near the grill.
