Overview

This document is an owner's manual for the PTG20309FT fire table, an outdoor heating appliance designed for use with propane gas.

Function Description:

The PTG20309FT is an outdoor fire table that produces a flame for ambiance and warmth. It operates on propane gas and is intended for outdoor use only in a ventilated space, not in any enclosed area. The appliance is designed to be used with lava rocks, pumice stones, or LavaGlass® placed above the burner holes, with a maximum depth of 1/4 inch to prevent suffocation of the flame. It is not intended for cooking.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Fuel Type: Propane gas only (LP-cylinder, sold separately).
  • Manifold Pressure: 11 inch w.c. (2.74kPa).
  • Propane Tank Dimensions: Diameter 12 inches, height 18 inches - capacity 20 lbs.
  • Propane Tank Requirements: Must have a collar to protect the gas valve, not filled over 80 percent full, system set up for vapor withdrawal, and constructed/marked with U.S. Department of Transportation or National Standard of Canada CAN/CSA-B339 specifications. Must have a listed overfilling prevention device and a QCCI or Type I (CGA791) LP gas tank connection.
  • Minimum Gas Supply: 10 psi.
  • Maximum Gas Supply: 250 psi.
  • Clearances to Combustible Materials: Not within 60 inches of the top of the unit, or within 48 inches around the entire unit.
  • Flame Height: Should be a yellow/blue color between 2 - 10 inches in height.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The manual provides detailed assembly instructions, emphasizing that the gas valve must be turned "OFF" before assembly and that all steps must be followed properly. It includes a part list with diagrams and descriptions for each component.
  • Ignition: To light the unit, ensure the control knob is in the "OFF" position, open the propane tank valve slowly, push and rotate the ignition control knob counterclockwise until a click is heard, and hold for 15 seconds once lit. If ignition fails, release the knob, rotate to "OFF," wait 5 minutes for gas to clear, and repeat.
  • Flame Adjustment: The flame can be adjusted by turning the control knob clockwise or counterclockwise.
  • Extinguishing: To turn off, rotate the control knob clockwise to "HIGH," then push and continue turning to the "OFF" position. Close the cylinder valve on the propane gas tank if not in use for a long time.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always perform a leak test before use, especially after connecting the propane tank or if gas is smelled. Use a soap and water mixture on connections; bubbles indicate a leak.
    • Do not use if the gas hose shows signs of wear or abrasion.
    • Stand away from the burner for the first 20 minutes after igniting, as lava rocks/pumice stones/LavaGlass could pop out. Discard any rocks that pop out.
    • Ensure lava rocks/pumice stones/LavaGlass are completely dry before use to prevent cracking or popping.
    • Do not operate until all parts are fully assembled.
    • Do not paint or color any part of the heating unit.
    • Do not move the unit while in use.
    • Never leave the unit unattended while in use.
    • Keep flammable items away and do not use other fireplace covers.
    • Maintain a safe distance to avoid burns.
    • Do not sit or rest hands/feet on the unit.
    • Never place hands/fingers on the upper portion while in use.
    • Keep electrical cords and fuel supply hose away from heated surfaces.
    • Children must be supervised and kept away from the appliance.
    • Do not add water to the unit.
    • Do not operate if any part has been submerged in water; call a qualified service technician.
    • Do not disconnect any part while the unit is in use.
    • Do not store a spare propane tank on or near the unit.
    • If the heating unit is indoors, detach the propane tank and leave outdoors.
    • Always remove the protective cover before operating and only replace it when the unit is turned off and completely cooled.
    • The guard on the burner should always be free of lava rocks to ensure proper function.
    • If applicable, allow heating items to cool completely before placing on the lid, and always remove the lid when the heating item is in use.

Maintenance Features:

  • Before Maintenance: Always disconnect the propane gas tank.
  • Storage: Store the product indoors during winter months to prevent exposure damage.
  • Cleanliness: Keep the appliance area clear and free from combustible material, gasoline, and other flammable vapors and liquids. Keep the heating item free and clear from combustible materials.
  • Cleaning: Use a soft brush to remove mild stains, loose dirt, and soil after the burner and pumice stones/lava rocks/LavaGlass are completely cooled down. Wipe down with a soft cloth.
  • Inspection: Visually inspect the burner for obstructions and keep the tank enclosure free and clear from debris. Inspect all elements of the heating unit before each use; replace the burner if damaged.
  • Hose Management: Keep the hose out of pathways to eliminate accidental damage (if external tank).
  • Professional Service: All installation and repair should be done by a qualified professional. The unit should be inspected annually and cleaned regularly. More frequent cleaning may be required. The control compartment, burners, and circulating airways must be kept clean.
  • Storage (General): Keep the heating unit stored away from direct sunlight. If storing indoors, disconnect the propane gas tank from the gas valve.
  • Protective Cover: Always place the lid (if applicable) or protective cover on the heating item when not in use.
  • Parts: Only use the regulator and hose assembly provided with the unit. Replacement parts must be supplied directly by the manufacturer. Not using manufacturer-approved parts may void the warranty.
