Overview

The Avidity Science Puro™ Range Water Purification System is a device designed to produce purified water for various applications, available in models Puro10, Puro20, Puro50, and Puro80, all part of Series 3. These systems are capable of producing Type 3 water at flow rates of 10, 20, 50, or 80 litres per hour, depending on the model. The purified water can be stored in an external storage tank, which can be dispensed directly or connected to a distribution system.

Function Description:

The Puro™ Range Water Purification System operates by processing feed water through a series of purification steps. The system incorporates a pre-treatment module (TC001) to trap larger particles, as well as chemicals such as insecticides, pesticides, herbicides, and chlorides. This pre-treatment is crucial for protecting the RO membranes and maintaining the integrity of the RO membranes effectively and efficiently as possible.

Following pre-treatment, the water passes through one or more RO membranes (TC006/TC013/TC026). These membranes reject almost all bacteria, viruses, heavy metal compounds, and organics, as well as removing 98-99% of salt content from the water. A percentage of the rejected water, referred to as the concentrate, is sent to the drain through a flow restrictor (R1), while the remaining water re-enters the system to pass through the RO membrane again to conserve water.

The product water, referred to as permeate, is measured through the Permeate Conductivity Sensor (Q2) as it leaves the membrane. When the water quality measure is within the set limits, the Permeate Solenoid Valve (V4) is opened, and the permeate water is fed into a Storage Tank (TANK), which is held as Type 3 water. If the water quality measure is outside the set limits, the system will display a warning for the user to recycle or flush the water to drain.

The system is assembled around a reservoir chassis and protected by a plastic housing designed for bench or wall-mounting. The plastic covers can be removed for access to replaceable components. All recorded data, warning messages, and dispensing information can be viewed from the controller display.

Routine maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of the Puro™ Range Water Purification System. A schedule of routine maintenance intervals is provided.

  • Preventive maintenance by an Authorized Technician: Every 6 months.
  • Replace Pre-treatment Module: Every 6 months (recommended frequency depends on usage and applies to the stated model only, without modification).
  • Replace UV Lamp in Storage Tank: Every 12 months by an Authorized Technician.
  • Replace Air Filter on Storage Tank: Every 12 months.
  • Replace RO membranes: On recommendation of an Authorized Technician.

Detailed Maintenance Procedures:

  • Replace Pre-Treatment Module (TC001):

    1. Lift the left front panel and remove.
    2. On the control screen, select the pre-treatment module icon.
    3. Enter the User passcode.
    4. Touch the "TC001 Change" button. The pre-treatment module depressurizes.
    5. Disconnect TC001 and remove the module from its brackets and disconnect the elbow fitting at each end.
    6. Place the module to the side for proper disposal.
    7. On the control screen, touch the checkmark icon.
    8. When "Install new module" is displayed, position the new module with the printed arrows pointing up.
    9. Connect the applicable elbow fitting to each end of the module as shown below.
    10. Secure the module to the two brackets.
    11. Replace the left front panel.
    12. On the control screen, touch the checkmark icon. The module is flushed of anti-freeze.
    13. When "Maintenance complete" is displayed, touch the checkmark icon.
    14. Touch the home icon until the main menu appears.
    15. Dispose of the used module following local environmental disposal guidelines.
  • Change the RO Membranes:

    • IMPORTANT: To change the membranes, the RO machine must first be removed from the system water flow.
    • CAUTION! Personal injury: Use two people to mount the RO machine to the bracket on the frame. The RO machine weighs approximately 55 lbs [25 kg]. One person is not enough to stabilize and mount the unit. Failure to do so can result in personal injury and equipment damage.
