The Avocet Cyclometer is a bicycle computer designed to track various riding metrics, available in two models: the Cyclometer 15 and the Cyclometer 25. Both models offer core functionalities, while the Cyclometer 25 includes additional features like a stopwatch and clock.
Speed: Both Cyclometer 15 and 25 display your current speed. The speed resolution varies depending on your speed: 0.1 mph up to 19.9 mph, 0.5 mph from 20 to 39.5 mph, and 1.0 mph above 40 mph. The "mi" indicator flashes when the cyclometer is actively receiving speed and distance data from the wheel sensor.
Total Distance (D): This function accumulates the total distance you have ridden, up to 6,209.9 miles. Once it reaches 6,210 miles, it automatically clears to 0 and resumes accumulation. To track yearly mileage, it's recommended to clear this function before your first ride of a new year.
Trip Distance (d): This displays the distance ridden since the last reset, up to 620.99 miles. At 621.00 miles, it automatically resets to 0 and resumes accumulation. Trip Distance also resets automatically when the Ride Timer reaches 10 hours. It's advisable to reset this function at the start of each ride to prevent automatic resets during your ride.
Average Speed (AV): This function displays your average speed since the last reset, calculated for up to 10 hours. For the Cyclometer 15, an 'E' is displayed instead of Average Speed after 10 hours. The Cyclometer 25 automatically resets and resumes averaging after 10 hours. The time over which the average has been calculated is shown in the Ride Timer.
Maximum Speed (MX): This displays the maximum speed reached since the last reset, up to 75.0 mph.
Ride Time (ST): This function displays the total time your bicycle's wheels have been turning, up to 9 hours and 59 minutes. It resets automatically at 10 hours. Trip Distance and Average Speed also reset at 10 hours. Time when the bicycle is stopped is not accumulated. Average speed is calculated by dividing the trip distance by the ride time.
Stopwatch (ST) (Cyclometer 25 only): When the Stopwatch is displayed, 'ST' blinks. You can start and stop the stopwatch using the left button. It displays elapsed times in hundredths of a second up to 9 minutes 59.99 seconds, then in hours, minutes, and seconds up to 9:59:59. At 10 hours, it rolls over to 0 and continues timing. The stopwatch can be started, stopped, and cleared without affecting the average speed of the entire ride.
Clock (Cyclometer 25 only): The clock displays 24-hour time in hours and minutes. You can access the clock from any function by holding the right button down for 2 seconds. After 10 minutes of no wheel pulses or button presses, the Cyclometer 25 goes to sleep and displays only the clock.
Button Operations:
Scan Mode (Cyclometer 15 only): To view each function for 5 seconds, hold the right button, then press the left button in any function except Total Distance. To exit scan mode, repeat the action.
Miles or Kilometers Selection:
Calibration: Calibration is crucial for accurate readings. You can find the calibration number that matches your tire size from a provided table or measure your tire's circumference precisely.
Setting the Clock (Cyclometer 25 only): Hold the right button in any function to display the clock. Hold the left button then press the right button to reach clock adjust. The right digit will blink; change it with the right button. Press the left button to go to the next digit. You must confirm the left digit's correctness after exiting clock set. You cannot set the clock when the Cyclometer 25 is asleep with only the clock displayed.
Installation:
Automatic Power Saver: After 10 minutes of no button presses and no wheel movement, the display goes blank (Cyclometer 15) or displays only the clock (Cyclometer 25). Power consumption is reduced by 50%. The normal display returns when a button is pressed or the bicycle is moved.
All Clear: You can manually clear Total Distance by holding down the left button in the Total Distance (D) function until the test pattern appears (10 seconds). This erases all stored data and resets the calibration number to 2155 mm (Cyclometer 15). Calibration number is retained with all clear in Cyclometer 25.
Battery Installation: To remove the battery, pry up the cap on the back of the Cyclometer with a screwdriver. Install the new battery with its positive (+) side toward the cap, then press in the cap with your thumb. Removing the battery erases all stored data and resets the calibration number to 2155. After installation, the Cyclometer displays the test pattern briefly, then goes into miles/kilometers setup.
