Overview

The Avura Pulse is an ozone generator designed to sanitize and deodorize enclosed indoor spaces by converting oxygen (O₂) into ozone (O₃). It serves as a complementary tool to traditional cleaning processes, offering a "Final Touch" by reaching areas that liquid disinfectants cannot, such as air, upholstery, and electronics, without leaving chemical residue. The device is intended for use in unoccupied spaces only, ensuring safety by preventing human and pet exposure to ozone during operation.

The core of the Avura Pulse's functionality lies in its patented PulseTech technology. This system delivers scaled concentrations of ozone over set durations, releasing alternating high and low output concentrations. This pulsating output helps to effectively deodorize and sanitize while also protecting textiles and certain polymers/rubber products from potential damage due to oxidant overexposure, which can occur with constant high ozone concentrations. The device is designed to produce sufficient ozone for sanitization and deodorization without reaching concentrations high enough to cause damage to surfaces, fabrics, and other materials.

The Avura Pulse offers four duration-based modes of operation, allowing users to select the appropriate cycle based on the size of the enclosed space and the desired treatment intensity. These modes include:

  • 20-Minute Mode: Ideal for smaller enclosed spaces like closets, delivering a pulsed combination of high and low ozone output. This mode is also designed for use with the Avura Bag to treat textiles and personal protective equipment.
  • 30-Minute Mode: Also utilizes a pulsed combination of high and low ozone output, suitable for use with the ONE Locker to treat textiles and personal protective equipment.
  • 2-Hour Mode: Runs in high output for the entire duration, recommended for medium-sized enclosed spaces up to 400 sq. feet.
  • 4-Hour Mode: Operates in high output for the full four-hour cycle, designed for larger enclosed spaces up to 800 sq. feet.

To operate the Avura Pulse, users follow a simple three-step process:

  1. Stop the Source and Prepare the Space: Before activating the Pulse, it's crucial to identify and remove the source of the odor, bacteria, or pathogen. This might involve removing burnt food, cleaning pet urine, or wiping down hard surfaces with EPA-approved cleaning products. All windows and doors to the enclosed space should be closed, and any HVAC systems or fans should be turned off to contain the ozone. For optimal effectiveness, the Pulse should be positioned at least 5 feet off the ground when treating an entire enclosed space. When spot treating, it should be placed within 1-2 feet of the source.
  2. Run the Pulse: The device can be powered by plugging it into a standard 110V AC electrical outlet or by using an optional lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack (sold separately). To turn on the Pulse, the power button is pressed and held for three seconds. The desired mode is then selected by pressing the MODE button until the corresponding LED light illuminates. The Pulse will automatically shut off once the selected cycle is complete.
  3. Ventilate the Enclosed Space: After a run cycle finishes, it is imperative to wait at least 30 minutes before re-entering the enclosed space. After this waiting period, opening windows, exterior doors, and turning on the HVAC system or a fan will help to further ventilate the space and dissipate any remaining ozone. If any symptoms like a scratchy throat or watery eyes are experienced upon re-entry, the space should be aired out for a longer period.

The Avura Pulse is designed with user safety as a paramount concern. It is an electrical device that operates in excess of 10,000 volts, necessitating careful handling. Users are warned against operating it near water, allowing children to operate it, or permitting loose flammable materials to enter the inlet. It should never be immersed in water or cleaned with chemicals like gasoline or kerosene. The device is not a medical device, and users with breathing or lung-related issues, especially asthma, should not operate any ozone generator, including the Avura Pulse. A hangtag should always be used to alert others that ozone may be present when the machine is in use.

For maintenance, the Avura Pulse requires periodic cleaning of its coil and fan. Every 100-200 hours of use, moisture-free compressed air should be used to blow off any accumulated dust or debris. The exterior can be wiped with a dry rag. It is crucial not to immerse the unit in water or use chemicals for cleaning. The device contains no user-serviceable parts, and opening it will void the warranty. Eventually, the internal coil, which converts oxygen to ozone, will need replacement. Signs that the coil needs servicing include a reduced or absent ozone smell, or dark spots/lack of a purplish glow on the coil when observed in a dark room. Avura provides an in-shop service department for coil replacement and other servicing needs.

The optional lithium-ion battery pack, sold separately, provides approximately seven hours of run time when fully charged. Charging times vary depending on the battery level, with a full charge taking around seven hours. Users are advised not to charge the battery unattended, to only use original lithium-ion battery packs, and to avoid charging in extreme temperatures or direct sunlight. The battery pack and charger should be kept away from children. Proper storage of the Avura Pulse indoors, in a temperature-controlled environment, is important for its life cycle.
