Overview

This document provides installation and instruction details for the AWNLUX W5700 and W5700C RV awnings. These are motorized awnings designed for recreational vehicles, offering shade and protection from the elements.

Function Description:

The AWNLUX RV awning is a retractable shade system that extends and retracts to provide an outdoor living space. It is operated by a 12V DC motor, allowing for easy deployment and retraction. The awning features adjustable pitch, enabling users to customize the slope for optimal water run-off during light rain. In case of power failure or motor damage, a manual crank system is provided for emergency operation. The W5700C model includes a fabric tube connector, suggesting a modular design for easier assembly or replacement of fabric tube sections.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model Numbers: W5700, W5700C
  • Motor: DC 12V
  • Awning Width (A): Available in various widths from 2.5m to 6.0m (metric) or 8' to 21' (imperial). This measurement refers to the distance from the left arm center to the right arm center.
  • Total Width (Upper): A+0.085m (metric) / A+2.95" (imperial)
  • Fabric Lock Width: A-0.13m (metric) / A-5.12" (imperial)
  • Fabric Width: A-0.25m (metric) / A-9.84" (imperial)
  • Total Width (Bottom): A+0.06m (metric) / A+2.36" (imperial)
  • Folded Arm Height: 1.96m (metric) / 77.17" (imperial)
  • Extension (Max.): 2.5m (metric) / 8" (imperial)
  • Mounting Points: 6 fixation points on the RV body, requiring strong bearing force. Points 1 & 3 & 4, 5 & 6 must be in the same horizontal position. Points 1 & 5, 2 & 6 must be in the same vertical position.
  • Arms: Gas piston arms that open automatically when the protective sleeve is released.
  • Fabric Tube: Composed of multiple sections connected by M6X16 screws (W5700C model).
  • Switch: Available with or without LED light control.

Usage Features:

  • Motorized Operation: The awning extends and retracts via a 12V DC motor, controlled by an interior switch.
  • Limit Position Adjustment: The motor's open and close limit positions can be adjusted using an adjustable rod inserted into specific holes on the motor. This ensures the awning extends and retracts to the desired maximum and minimum points without over-running. Slow, incremental adjustments (0.5-1 turns at a time) are recommended to prevent loss of motor function.
  • Adjustable Pitch (Optional): The awning's slope can be adjusted to facilitate water run-off. This is achieved by loosening an adjustable knob on the bottom arm and lowering the top arm assembly. A maximum slope of approximately 15° from the horizontal angle is suggested for water shedding.
  • Emergency Manual Control: In the event of a power cut or motor damage, the awning can be manually operated using a hand crank. The crank hooks into a black crank on the motor's right side, allowing clockwise or anti-clockwise turning to close or open the awning. This function is for emergencies only and should not be used when the motorized function is operational.
  • Safety Precautions: Users are warned to maintain a horizontal distance of at least 2.5m between the fully open awning and any permanent object to avoid interference and potential injury. Caution is also advised when releasing the gas piston arms due to their automatic opening.

Maintenance Features:

  • Fabric Care:
    • Cleaning: Do NOT use abrasive or corrosive cleaners, mildew removers, or hard bristle brushes. Liberally drench the open awning fabric with a cleaning solution, let it soak for 10 minutes, then open and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Bleach will degrade the fabric if not completely rinsed off.
    • Pinhole Repair: Small pinholes or flaking coating on vinyl fabric can be repaired using VLP (Vinyl Liquid Patch) applied with a cotton swab. Ensure the VLP dries thoroughly before retracting the awning to prevent damage.
    • Wrinkling: Vinyl fabric may wrinkle when retracted for prolonged periods. Opening the awning for a period in warm weather can minimize wrinkling.
  • General Precautions:
    • Avoid using insecticides or other sprays near the fabric as they can cause stains and affect water repellency.
    • Do NOT expose the awning to adverse environmental conditions, corrosive agents, or other harmful substances.
    • Prevent the entry door corner from contacting the awning fabric to avoid premature wear or tearing.
    • NEVER close the awning when wet to prevent mildew, discoloration, and stains. If temporarily rolled up wet, ensure it is unrolled and dried completely as soon as possible.
    • Keep the awning free from dirt, leaves, or other debris to prevent abrasion, stains, and mildew growth.
    • Do NOT use strong chemicals or abrasives to clean parts; use neutral detergent to protect the surface layer.
    • After installation, it is recommended to use structural glue on the back of the fabric lock rail to prevent water leakage.
