Overview

This document describes a 24-inch widescreen HD LED TV with a built-in DVD player, designed for home entertainment. It functions as both a television and a monitor, offering a range of features for viewing various media.

Function Description

The primary function of this device is to display video content from multiple sources, including broadcast television, external media players, and computers. It integrates a DVD player, allowing direct playback of disc-based media. The TV supports high-definition resolutions, making it suitable for modern video content. It also includes audio output capabilities for connecting to external sound systems or headphones.

Usage Features

General Operation:

The TV can be turned on and off using either the power button on the unit or the remote control. A power indicator light shows the current status (blue for on, red for standby). The TV automatically enters standby mode after about 10 minutes if no signal is detected in TV mode. All picture and channel settings are memorized when the unit is turned off.

Input Sources:

The TV offers multiple input sources, including TV (Antenna/Cable), AV, YPbPr, HDMI, VGA, USB, and DVD. Users can easily switch between these sources using the SOURCE button on the remote control or the unit.

Remote Control:

The remote control provides comprehensive control over the TV's functions. It includes number buttons for channel selection, dedicated buttons for EPG (Electronic Program Guide), INFO (program information), FREEZE (to hold the picture), and SLEEP (Sleep Timer). Volume and channel navigation buttons are also present. For DVD playback, the remote has specific buttons for EJECT, GOTO (for searching specific positions), A-B (for repeat playback between two points), ANGLE (for viewing different camera angles on compatible DVDs), REPEAT, MEDIA (to switch between DISC, USB, and CARD modes), LANGUAGE (for soundtrack selection), SETUP (for DVD menu settings), D.MENU (for DVD root menu), SUBTITLE, ZOOM (to enlarge/shrink the picture), TITLE (for DVD title menu), and D.DISP (to display playback information). Multimedia playback controls like fast backward/forward, previous/next file, play/pause, and stop are also available.

On-Screen Display (OSD) Menus:

The TV features an intuitive OSD menu system, accessible via the MENU button. This allows users to adjust various settings:

  • Picture Settings: Users can select from predefined picture modes (User, Standard, Dynamic, Mild) or customize settings such as Contrast, Brightness, Color, Tint (for certain TV systems), Sharpness, and Color Temperature (Normal, Warm, Cool). Any manual adjustment to Contrast, Brightness, Color, Tint, or Sharpness automatically switches the picture mode to "User."
  • Audio Settings: Sound modes (User, Music, Movie, Standard) are available, along with adjustments for Bass, Treble, and Balance. The Surround function can be turned on/off. Auto Volume Control (AVC) helps maintain consistent volume levels. Users can select the SPDIF audio output type (Off, RAW, PCM) and preferred Audio Language (for digital programs). An Accessibility feature includes a Voice Guide with adjustable volume, speed, and pitch, and Video Description for visually impaired users.
  • Time Settings: A Sleep Timer can be set for automatic power-off (options from 5 minutes to 240 minutes). Time Zone and Daylight Saving Time settings are available (for digital programs). The Clock displays date and time, automatically updated from digital programs.
  • Setup Settings: This menu allows selection of Menu Language, Transparency (for OSD menu visibility), and Zoom Mode (Normal, Wide, Zoom, Cinema), which may vary by input source. Noise Reduction can be set to Off, Weak, Middle, or Strong. Advanced settings are available for PC/VGA input signals. Closed Caption (CC) settings include CC Mode (CC on Mute, Off, On) and Basic Selection (CC1-CC4, Text1-Text4). DLC (Dynamic Luminance Control) can be toggled. OverScan (for HDMI mode only) can be adjusted if the image is not fully displayed. A "Restore Default" option resets all settings to factory defaults.
  • Lock Settings: This feature allows parental control. Users can change the password (default is 0000), enable/disable System Lock, and set US (MPAA ratings: N/A, G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17, X) and Canada (English: E, C, C8+, G, PG, 14+, 18+; French: E, G, 8 ans+, 13 ans+, 16 ans+, 18 ans+) ratings. RRT Rating (for programs with Advance Rating information) and Reset RRT are also available. These lock settings are adjustable only when System Lock is enabled.
  • Channel Settings: Users can select Air or Cable signal receiving type. Auto Scan initiates an automatic search for available channels. Cable System options include AUTO, STD, IRC, HRC (adjustable only when signal type is Cable). Favorite channels can be labeled, and channels can be shown or hidden. Channel Number and Channel Label can be adjusted. DTV Signal is a non-adjustable item.

PC Settings:

When in VGA mode, users can access PC settings to adjust Horizontal Position (H-Pos), Vertical Position (V-Pos), Clock, and Phase. An "Auto" option automatically adjusts the PC screen.

USB Operation:

The TV includes a USB 2.0 slot for multimedia file playback (Music: MP3, Photo: JPG). Users can navigate folders and files using the remote control. During photo playback, users can play previous/next photos and rotate images. During music playback, a tool bar allows control over playback (play, fast backward/forward, previous/next, stop, pause, repeat). The TV is compatible with most USB devices, but full compatibility is not guaranteed due to varying technology standards.

DVD Setup Menu:

The integrated DVD player has its own setup menu with general settings:

  • TV Display: Selects TV output mode (NORMAL/PS, NORMAL/LB, WIDE).
  • Angle Mark: Toggles the display of the multi-angle icon during playback of compatible discs.
  • OSD Language: Chooses the desired language for the DVD player's on-screen display.

  • Default: Resets DVD player settings to factory defaults.
  • Audio Setup: Allows setting speaker output levels and selecting audio mix mode (LT/RT-Left/Right mix mode, STEREO).

USB 2/SD Operation:

The device also functions as a card reader, supporting SD, MMC, and MS cards in addition to USB storage. To access these, users select "DVD" as the source and then use the SOUND/MEDIA button to toggle between the DVD player, USB device, or SD/MMC/MS card. Supported media types include Video (MPEG1, MPEG2), Audio (WMA, MP3), and Photo (JPEG).

Maintenance Features

Cleaning:

When cleaning the TV, it is important to unplug the power cord. For the front cabinet, use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid repeatedly wiping, scraping, tapping, or striking the panel with hard objects. Do not use corrosive depuratives, acetone, toluene, or alcohol-based solvents, as these can damage the panel and cabinet.

Battery Care:

The remote control uses two AAA batteries. To prevent damage from leakage, remove batteries if the remote will not be used for a long period. Do not mix old and new batteries. Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat.

Environmental Considerations:

The TV is designed to comply with green environment protection requirements, including zero X-radiation. Used batteries should be disposed of in a recycling bin.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues like no power, no picture, no sound, abnormal color, remote control malfunction, screen flickering, horizontal stripes, and colored dots. It offers possible solutions, such as checking power connections, antenna, volume, sound settings, remote control batteries, and adjusting monitor parameters for PC input. It also notes that a few cell defects resulting in colored dots on LED displays are normal and do not indicate a faulty product.

Safety Precautions:

The manual emphasizes several safety precautions:

  • Avoid using extension cords or receptacles where blades are not fully inserted to prevent blade exposure.
  • Do not expose the appliance to rain or moisture.
  • Unplug the power cord during thunderstorms, cleaning, or prolonged disuse.
  • Keep the TV away from direct sunlight, heat sources (candles, heaters), and water.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation (at least 10cm space around the TV).
  • Do not place liquid containers on top of the TV.
  • Avoid moving the TV while powered on.
  • Do not touch, push, or scratch the screen with hard objects.
  • Do not disassemble the back cover due to high voltage inside. Only qualified professionals should perform internal adjustments.
  • Prevent children from climbing or playing around the TV.
  • Do not cover the TV with blankets or other objects when connected to a power source to prevent overheating and fire.
  • The main plug serves as a disconnect device and should remain readily operable.
  • The apparatus with class I construction requires a protective earthing connection.
