•RTPstartport–EntertheportusedfortherstRTPmediastreaminaSIPcall.Thedefaultstartportformediatransport
is4000.SomerewallsmightblockRTPtrafconcertainportnumbers.Aportnumbermustbebetween1024and65535.

UseNATtraversalwhentheAxisproductisconnectedtothenetworkbehindaNATrouterorrewalldevice.
WithoutSIP-specicportforwarding,usersofclientswithinthesameprivatenetworkwouldbeabletotalktoeachotherbut
usersofclientsindifferentnetworkswouldnot.
ThefollowingNATtraversalsettingsareavailable:
•STUN–SessionTraversalUtilitiesforNAT(STUN).
•TURN–TraversalUsingRelaysaroundNAT(TURN).
•ICE–InteractiveConnectivityEstablishment(ICE).
EachNATtraversalprotocolcanbeusedseparatelyorindifferentcombinationsdependingonthenetworkenvironment.

InteractiveConnectivityEstablishment(ICE)
InteractiveConnectivityEstablishment(ICE)enablestheproducttosendarequestthatincludesmultipleaddressestothereceiving
device.Initsresponse,thereceivingdevicealsoincludesmultipleaddresses.Throughaprocessofconnectivitychecks,alsocalled
handshakes,thechannelforcommunicationisestablished.
ICEincreasesthechancesofndingthemostefcientpathtosuccessfulcommunicationbetweenpeerdevices.Ifyoualsoenable
STUNandTURN,youimprovetheICEprotocol’schancesofndingthemostefcientpathtosuccessfulcommunication.
SessionTraversalUtilitiesforNAT(STUN)
SessionTraversalUtilitiesforNAT(STUN)isaclient-servernetworkprotocolthatenablestheproducttoaskaSTUNserveronthe
InternetforamappedpublicIPaddress.TheSTUNserverresponseincludesthisIPaddressandportsothattheclientcanusethem
initsSIPmessagestootherhostsandclients.
LikeTURN,STUNcanbeusedinfull-cone,address-restrictedcone,andport-restrictedconeNATsetups.STUNisfastbecauseit
islightweight.However,STUNdoesnotallowincomingmessagesfromsymmetricNATs,anditcannotcommunicatewithapeer
behindthesameNATdevice.
