setareferencewindowforwhitebalanceintheviewarea.
WideDynamicRange
Widedynamicrange(WDR-forensiccapture)providesbalancedimagesinsceneswherethereisaconsiderablecontrastbetween
lightanddarkareasintheimage.Thecameraautomaticallyhandlesthetransitionbetweensuchscenesandlow-lightconditions.
Important
UseWDRincombinationwithautomaticexposurecontrol.Otherexposuresettingscouldproduceundesirableresults.
TrafcLightmode
Thismodewilldecreasetheexposure,sothattrafclightsandotherbrightlightsourceswillnotsaturatewheninviewatnight.
Inthismode,itispossibletodistinguishthecolorofthetrafclightsatanysurroundinglightlevel.Thismodeisalsofavorable
forlicenseplaterecognition.
Note
Thedecreaseinexposurewillmakethewholeimagedarker,duringconditionsabove.
ThissettingwilldisabletheExposureSettingsforbestresults.
ExposureSettings
Exposureistheamountoflightthecamera’ssensorcapturesforascene.Toomuchlightresultsinawashedoutimageandtoo
littlelightresultsinadarkimage.
Exposurevalue-UsetheExposurevalueslidertoadjusttheoverallbrightnessoftheimage.
Exposurecontrol-Selectasuitableoptiontocontrolexposure.
Formostscenes,theAutomaticoptionwillprovidethebestresults.Theshutterspeedisautomaticallysettoproduceoptimum
imagequality.Fluorescentlampsorotherlightsourcescansometimescauseickeringintheimage.Toreduceickerintheimage,
selecttheFlickeroptionthatmatchesthepowerlinefrequency.
TheHoldcurrentoptionlocksthecurrentexposuresettings.
Maxexposuretime-Shutterspeed,alsocalled‘exposuretime’,standsforthelengthoftimethecamerashutterisopen,thereby
exposingthecamerasensortolight.Ifshutterspeedisfastitcanfreezeactioneffectively.Ifshutterspeedisslow,itcancause
movingobjectstoappearblurred.Decreasingtheexposuretimewillreducemotionblur.
Exposurezones-Thissettingdetermineswhichpartoftheimageisusedtocalculatetheexposure.Formostsituations,theAuto
settingcanbeused.
YoucanselectapredenedareabydeningIncludeandExcludewindowswithintheimage.Excludewindowsexcludeareasthatare
toobrightordark,andIncludewindowsincludeareasinthescenethathavebetterlightingwhichwillcontributetotheexposuredata.
TheremustbeatleastoneIncludewindow.TherecanbeatotaloftenIncludeandExcludewindowstotailortheexposurezone.
NotethatanExcludewindowiseffectiveonlywhenplacedinsideanincludewindow.
Tip:Ifanareaisextremelybright,drawanIncludewindowtocoverthewholeareaanddeneExcludewindowswithinitto
blockoutthebrightareas.
Howtosetupnormalandlowlight
WhenShutterandGainarebothsettoAuto,itispossibletosetthePrioritybetweenlowmotionblurandlownoisemanuallyandto
useadifferentPriorityinNormalLightandinLowLight.
Example
Consideranareawherepeopleorvehiclesmoveduringtheday,butwherethereshouldbenomovementatnight.Tobeableto,
forexample,recognizefacesorlicenseplates,movethenormallightpriorityslidertowardlowmotionblur.Atnighttime,motion
detectionismoreimportantthanidentication.Motionblurisacceptableandsincelowlightcancausealotofnoise,move
thelowlightpriorityslidertowardlownoise.
