Do you have a question about the AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC FT201 AA DLP and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC FT201 AA DLP is a water filtration system designed for efficient and reliable filtration solutions. This manual provides comprehensive information regarding its features, technical specifications, installation, operation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC system carries out a two-phase filtration process: FILTRATION PHASE and BACKFLUSHING PHASE. During the filtration phase, water is directed from the inlet manifold through backflushing valves into the filter's interior, where it passes through a stack of discs. The filtered water is then collected by the outlet manifold and discharged. The backflushing phase is initiated by the Control Unit based on differential pressure, time frequency, manual activation, or an external signal. During backflushing, the Control Unit closes the solenoid, which converts an electric signal into a pneumatic signal to feed the backflushing valve chamber and auxiliary valve. This action connects the filtered water outlet with the drainage, closing the water inlet to the filter and communicating the filter's interior with the drainage manifold, thus starting the backflush. The release of discs allows them to spin freely due to the tangential projection of water, facilitating the complete elimination of retained solids through the backflushing valve. The system ensures that the filtration equipment is re-established and ready for the next filtration cycle.

Important Technical Specifications

The AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC FT201 AA DLP is designed for various filtration requirements, with disc kits available in different micron sizes: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 130, 200, and 400 microns.

  • Formula: Air intake P = inlet water P + 1bar.

The equipment is classified according to the Directive of Pressurized Equipments PED 2014/68/EU - Fluid Group 2.

Usage Features

The system is designed for exclusive use in water filtration, adhering to specified operational conditions. It is not intended for filtering hazardous liquids or liquids for food use. The AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC system incorporates grooved discs that create a helical effect, optimizing filtration efficiency and reducing the frequency of backflushing. The design ensures maximum precision and safety in filtration.

Installation:

  • Installation must be performed by qualified staff on solid ground.
  • The equipment is delivered assembled on a pallet.
  • Connections are grooved, requiring standard elements for integration into the installation.
  • Pneumatic connection to the air system involves connecting the intake source of air to the control unit, with a pressure regulator and quick coupling.

Operation:

  • Before starting, ensure flow rate, pressure, temperature, and pH are within specifications.
  • All filters must be properly closed, and the auxiliary filter key must be open.
  • Connect the pumping system for water inlet.
  • Monitor equipment head loss.
  • Follow the instructions in the Control Unit Manual.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of the AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC system. The maintenance plan depends on operational conditions, water characteristics, and backflushing frequency. AZUD recommends checking components every three months, with the user determining the specific schedule based on installation characteristics.

Daily Actions:

  1. Visual inspection of the equipment.
  2. Check for leakages.
  3. Check operation conditions (pressure, temperature, flow rate, pH).
  4. Monitor equipment head loss (P1* - P2*).

Periodical Actions:

  1. Check the base o-ring.
  2. Check the filters' cleaning state; clean discs manually if dirty.
  3. Manually activate a backflush to verify correct operation of all stations.
  4. Check gaskets.
  5. Check piston elements.
  6. Check ¼" auxiliary filter.
  7. Check 1½" intake filters.
  8. Maintain grooved couplings.

General Revision of the Equipment:

  • Opening and Closure of Filters: Depressurize the filter before opening. Remove the clamp and lid, then carefully remove the filtering element.
  • Disc Cleaning: Disassemble the piston by turning it until released. Clean discs using clean water or an acid dissolution. Do not mix discs from different filters.
  • Reassembly: Lubricate filtering element o-rings with neutral Vaseline. Introduce WS discs with the striated side faced down; ensure two WS discs' same sides are never together. Thread the piston with soft pressure. Insert the filtering element safety, pushing down.
  • Piston Elements: Disassemble and check piston components, including the ring, B piece from A piece, and o-rings/springs. Lubricate piston components with neutral Vaseline during assembly.
  • Intake Filter Inspection: Disconnect P1 and P2 microtubes, extract and clean the ¼" filters from manifolds, apply sealer, and reconnect.
  • Grooved Couplings: Disassemble, apply grease to the coupling joint, and reassemble.

Safety Information:

  • Always ensure the equipment is depressurized before any maintenance.
  • Use adequate personal protective equipment (clothes, glasses, gloves).
  • Do not open the filter clamp when pressurized.
  • Lock the safety lock of the clamp to prevent accidental opening.
  • Isolate the system with upstream and downstream valves during maintenance.
  • In freezing risk areas, empty the filtration system to prevent damage.

The manual emphasizes that failure to follow instructions can cause damage to people, equipment, and the environment, and may void the warranty.
