Overview

This document provides assembly instructions, safety warnings, and customer service information for the Dorel Asia baby Relax 2-in-1 Convertible Crib, model DA7427B2 (BLACK).

Function Description

The Dorel Asia baby Relax 2-in-1 Convertible Crib is designed to serve as both a crib and a day bed, adapting to a child's growth. As a crib, it provides a safe sleeping environment for infants. Once the child outgrows the crib stage, it can be converted into a day bed, offering continued utility. The crib features multiple mattress support positions, allowing the mattress height to be adjusted as the child develops and becomes more mobile. This adjustability is crucial for safety, ensuring that the child cannot climb out of the crib. The conversion to a day bed involves detaching the front panel and adjusting the mattress support to its lowest position, providing an open side for easier access while maintaining a secure sleeping area.

Usage Features

The crib is designed for adult assembly, requiring two people and an estimated assembly time of 60 minutes. It comes with a hardware list including various bolts, barrel nuts, wood dowels, and an Allen key, along with a parts list detailing the front posts, back posts, back panel, side panels, top rails, front panel, front rail, and mattress support. The assembly process is broken down into several steps, starting with attaching the top rails to the side panels, then connecting the front and back posts to form the side structures. The back panel is then attached to the back posts, followed by the front rail to the front posts. A critical step involves attaching the mattress support to the posts, with specific instructions to ensure the "THIS SIDE UP" label faces upward and the corner tabs point up. The mattress support has multiple position holes to adjust the mattress height, which should be set to the lowest position once the child can pull to a standing position.

For conversion to a day bed, the front panel needs to be detached from the front posts. If the mattress support is not already in the lowest position, it must be moved there. The day bed is intended for children under 15 months of age or over 50 lbs. The crib is designed to be used with a mattress that is at least 27-1/4 inches by 51-5/8 inches (69cm by 131cm) with a thickness not exceeding 6 inches (15cm). It is important to stop using the crib when the child begins to climb out or reaches a height of 35 inches (89 cm). The maximum weight for crib use is 50 pounds.

Safety warnings are prominently featured throughout the manual. Users are cautioned against failure to follow assembly instructions, which could lead to serious injury or death. It is advised to check the product frequently for damaged hardware, loose joints, bolts, or missing parts, and to securely tighten all fasteners. The crib should not be used if any parts are missing, damaged, or broken. Infants can suffocate on soft bedding, so pillows, comforters, or additional padding should not be used under an infant. To reduce the risk of SIDS, healthy infants should be placed on their backs to sleep. The crib should not be placed near windows where cords from blinds or drapes could strangle a child, and items with strings should not be placed around a child's neck or suspended over the crib. When the child can pull to a standing position, the mattress should be set to the lowest position, and bumper pads, large toys, or other objects that could serve as steps for climbing out should be removed. Plastic shipping bags or film should not be used as mattress covers due to suffocation risk. If a teething rail is provided and becomes damaged or loose, it should be replaced. The manual also warns about entrapment hazards in toddler beds, advising against using the bed with children under 15 months or over 50 lbs.

Maintenance Features

The manual provides guidelines for care and maintenance to ensure the longevity and safety of the crib. Regular dusting with a soft, lint-free cloth is recommended to prevent soil build-up. A damp cloth can be used occasionally for cleaning the surface, but it should be dried immediately. Abrasives that could damage the finish should not be used. Excessive exposure to sunlight and extreme changes in temperature and moisture can damage the wood furniture. Periodically, bolts and screws should be checked and tightened if necessary to maintain structural integrity.

The product comes with a limited warranty covering defects in material and workmanship for one year from the date of original purchase. This warranty is valid only with proof of purchase and is limited to the repair or replacement of defective furniture components, excluding assembly labor. The warranty does not cover products that have been improperly assembled, subjected to misuse or abuse, or altered or repaired in any way.

Customer service information is provided for missing parts or questions. Users are instructed not to return the product to the store but to contact the customer service department directly. Replacement parts are offered free of charge if a part is missing or damaged. Contact details include a toll-free phone number, email address, and fax number, as well as a mailing address for written inquiries. A customer service form is included for users to fill out with their contact information, request date, shipping address, and a description of the missing or defective part(s), along with the model number or SKN number.
