Overview

The Babymore Milo Cot/Bed is a versatile piece of nursery furniture designed to accommodate children from birth up to approximately 4 years of age. It functions as both a cot and a child's bed, offering adaptability as the child grows. The product conforms to safety standards BS EN 716: 2017 for cot mode and BS 8509:2008+A1:2011 when converted to a bed.

Technical Specifications:

  • Mattress Size Recommendation: Minimum 70 cm x 140 cm, with a thickness not exceeding 10 cm. The gap between the mattress and the sides/ends should not exceed 30 mm.
  • Internal Height (Cot Mode):
    • Lowest base position: At least 500 mm from the mattress surface to the upper edge of the cot frame.
    • Highest base position: At least 200 mm from the mattress surface to the upper edge of the cot frame.
  • Components:
    • Cot End Panel (x2)
    • Foot (x4)
    • Fixed Side (x1)
    • Base Slat (x1)
    • Base Support Bar (x2)
    • Drop Side (x1)
  • Fittings:
    • Bolts-55mm (x12)
    • Barrel nut (x8)
    • Bolts-25mm (x8)
    • Lower Pin (x2)
    • Upper Pin (x2)
    • Allen key (x1)
  • Assembly Time: Estimated less than 30 minutes.

Usage Features:

  • Convertible Design: The Milo can be assembled as a cot with a drop side and then converted into a day/child's bed by removing the drop side, cot feet, and upper pins, and adjusting the base to the middle position.
  • Adjustable Base Positions: The cot offers multiple base positions (top, middle, bottom) to adapt to the child's developmental stages. The lowest base position is the safest and should be used once the child can sit up unaided.
  • Drop Side Mechanism: The cot features a drop side for easier access to the child. To operate, lift the drop side to the top, push the lower center of the panel inward with a leg, and then allow the panel to slide down/up until it clicks into the locking position. It is crucial to verify that both ends are locked into the raised position when a child is in the cot.
  • Safety Guidelines:
    • Always be aware of the risk of open fires and other strong heat sources near the cot.
    • Do not use the cot/bed if any part is broken, torn, or missing; only use Babymore-approved spare parts.
    • Avoid leaving anything in the cot or placing it near products that could provide a foothold or pose a suffocation/strangulation hazard (e.g., strings, blind/curtain cords).
    • Do not use more than one mattress in the cot.
    • When converted to a child's bed, do not place it near heat sources, windows, or other furniture.
    • Always ensure the movable side is closed if the child is left unattended in the cot.
    • The cot is only ready for use when the locking mechanism(s) are fully engaged.
    • Once the child is able to climb out of the cot, it should no longer be used for that child to prevent falls.
    • For child's bed use, it should be placed either tight against a wall or have a gap of 300 mm between the wall and the side of the bed, as children may play, bounce, jump, and climb on beds.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The cot/bed can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Harsh abrasives or bleach should never be used.
  • Fittings Check: All assembly fittings should be properly tightened before use and checked regularly, tightening as necessary.
  • Storage of Components: After disassembly, it is important to retain all metal fixings and components for future conversion back to cot or bed mode.
  • Furniture Polish: Periodic use of furniture polish will help maintain the appearance of the furniture.
  • Scuff Marks: Scuff marks can be removed with a damp cloth.
  • Natural Variations: Babymore products are crafted from high-quality wood and natural materials, which may result in unique characteristics such as natural markings, minuscule burrs, or slight discolorations. These are inherent to the material and are not considered manufacturing defects.

Warranty and Support:

  • Six Months Limited Warranty: Babymore offers a six-month limited warranty from the date of original purchase, covering missing parts at the time of purchase or any defective items. A receipt is required for warranty claims. This warranty applies only to new units with original packaging and ownership and is not transferable. It does not cover used, second-hand, or demo models.
  • Exclusions: The warranty does not cover damaged or defective parts resulting from improper installation/assembly, normal wear and tear, abuse, negligence, improper use, incidental damages, or alterations to the finish, part, or fitting of the cot.
  • Customer Service: For assistance, spare parts, or any issues, customers can contact Babymore at 020 3475 5588 or via email at customerservices@babymore.co.uk.
  • Serial Number: The serial number is located on a label attached to the slat of the mattress base.

Assembly Instructions:

  • Read instructions thoroughly before assembly.
  • Unpack all parts and identify them against the components and fittings lists.
  • Do not discard packaging until all parts and fittings are confirmed.
  • Contact customer services if any parts are missing, damaged, or incorrect.
  • Assembly is easier with the help of another person, performed in the room of use, on a soft, clean, level floor.
  • Follow step-by-step construction stages.
  • Do not fully tighten bolts until specified (e.g., Step 8) to allow for adjustments.
  • Ensure correct orientation of panels (e.g., "PUSH" label face outside for the drop side).
  • Allow a 3-5mm even gap between the drop side and cot ends after full tightening.
