Overview

This document is a user manual for the Bafang BT C01.XXX.UC battery, designed for pedelecs. It provides comprehensive instructions on the battery's operation, charging, and maintenance, as well as safety guidelines for both the battery and its dedicated charger.

Function Description

The Bafang BT C01.XXX.UC is a lithium-ion battery designed to power pedelecs. It comes in various capacities (340 W/h, 450 W/h, 600 W/h, and 750 W/h) to suit different manufacturer configurations. The battery integrates protective components to prevent hazards and features a battery management system that can put the battery into a deep sleep mode to prevent deep discharge during long periods of inactivity. It also includes an LED display to indicate its charge status and charging capacity.

The accompanying charger, the Bafang SSLC100V49, is specifically designed for these lithium-ion batteries. It features an integrated fuse and overcharging protection, ensuring safe and efficient charging. The charger's LED indicator shows the charging status: green flash for standby, red light for charging, red flash for abnormal charging, and green light for fully charged.

Usage Features

Battery Installation and Removal: To install the battery, ensure the lock is open. Slide the battery along the battery rail into the battery holder until it's fully seated. Once inserted, the battery can be locked, and the key should be removed to prevent loss or damage. Incorrect insertion will prevent the pedelec's electric drive system from switching on. For removal, first turn off the electrical power supply. Then, unlock the battery and slide it out of the holder.

Charging the Battery: The battery can be charged either while mounted on the bike or when removed. It is recommended to charge the battery after each use to prevent deep discharge, which can be harmful. The ideal charging temperature is between 0°C and 45°C, preferably around 20°C. Allow the battery to reach this temperature before charging. To charge, first connect the charging cable to the battery's charging socket, then plug the charger into a wall socket. A red LED on the charger will illuminate, indicating that charging is in progress. Once fully charged, the LED will turn green, and the charging process will stop automatically. Disconnect the charger from the battery first, then from the mains. The charging time varies depending on factors such as temperature, age, battery use, and capacity.

LED Display for Charge Status and Capacity: Pressing the button on the battery for 1 second will display the current state of charge via the LEDs. Holding the button for 6 seconds will indicate the battery's capacity. The LED indicators correspond to different charge levels:

  • First LED blinks: ≤ 5%
  • One LED light turns green: 5–20%
  • Two LED lights turn green: 20–40%
  • Three LED lights turn green: 40–60%
  • Four LED lights turn green: 60–80%
  • Five LED lights turn green: ≥ 80%

Pedelec Riding Distance: The actual riding distance of the pedelec is influenced by several factors, including:

  • Used pedal power
  • Total weight (rider and load)
  • Tire air pressure
  • Headwind
  • Ambient temperature
  • Road/underground conditions
  • Selected speed level
  • Slope
  • Battery charge level
  • Battery age
  • Remaining capacity of the battery

Maintenance Features

Battery Storage: If the pedelec will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery and charge it to approximately 60-80% capacity. Store the battery separately in a suitable dry place, away from direct sunlight. Storing the battery uncharged for long periods can damage its capacity. The battery will enter a sleep mode after a certain time to prevent deep discharge. To wake it up from deep sleep mode, press and hold the button for 10 seconds.

Battery Wear: The battery is designed for approximately 500 charge cycles. Over time, the battery capacity will gradually decrease, which will reduce the pedelec's range. If the range becomes insufficient, the battery may need to be replaced.

Charger Care: Keep the charger away from children and animals. Do not use the charger if it is moist or dusty, and avoid direct sunlight. Disconnect the charger from the power supply when not in use. When cleaning the charger, always unplug it from the power outlet first. Do not cover the charger or battery during charging, and ensure charging occurs in a well-ventilated room on a dry, non-flammable surface. If the charging process takes longer than usual, stop charging immediately and have the battery and charger checked by a retailer to prevent further damage.

Safety and Handling:

  • Always use the original Bafang charger supplied with the battery. Using an incompatible charger carries a risk of fire or explosion.
  • Never open, disassemble, or pierce the battery, as this can lead to short circuits, leaks, fires, or explosions.
  • If the battery has been dropped, exposed to a blow, or shows any signs of damage or overheating, do not continue to use it. Return it to your retailer for examination.
  • Keep the battery out of reach of children.
  • Do not touch a leaking battery. If electrolytes come into contact with skin, wash immediately. If battery acid gets into eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water and seek medical attention.
  • Do not heat or burn the battery, or use it near heat sources or open flames, as high temperatures can cause the battery to explode.
  • Do not charge the battery near open fire or in direct sunlight, as this can cause internal problems and damage the protective function.
  • Do not intentionally short-circuit the battery by allowing its connectors to touch each other or metal objects.
  • Do not charge the battery directly from a wall socket or car cigarette lighter without the appropriate charger, as high voltage and excessive current can damage the battery and reduce its lifespan.
  • The charger should only be serviced by qualified personnel. Never open the charger to prevent the risk of electric shock.
