Where To Put Your Barbeque

Barbeque Placement Guidelines

Observe clearances on the data sticker. Keep sheltered from wind and on a level surface.

Putting Your Barbeque In An Enclosure

Appliance must be used in an open air situation with natural ventilation. Enclosures must comply with specific opening requirements.

Barbeque Setup

Build-in Barbeques

Install into a dedicated enclosure with adequate clearance and ventilation for safe operation.

Island Barbeques

Pre-built island modules available with optional table and sink/fridge, designed for specific clearances.

Assembling Your Barbeque

Assembly Of Cart

Follow separate cart assembly instructions to position the barbeque before adding components.

Prepare For Assembly

Start by unpacking the carton. Handle the barbeque and gas connection carefully.

Position The Cast Iron Burners

Position cast iron burners if required. Models with all RQT burners do not have cast iron burners.

Position The RQT Burners

Position RQT burners on the far right for models with cast iron and RQT. All RQT models need one in every position.

Position The Quartz Glass Dome Over The RQT Burner

RQT burners must have the quartz glass dome for flare control, protecting ports, and concentrating heat.

Position The Ceramic Rock Tray

Place the ceramic rock tray and rocks over the far right burners for models without RQT burners.

Hotplates & Grills

Place the hotplate on the left side (drain hole to centre) and grills on the right side.

Warming Rack

The foldaway warming rack is factory fitted. Remove support pins first for cleaning.

Side Burner Trivet

Open the side burner lid and place the trivet over the burner to sit in place.

About RQT Burners

Quartz Glass Properties

Made of near pure quartz SiO₂, offers benefits like higher transmission and operating temperatures.

Extra RQT Burners Are Available

Purchase extra RQT burners and quartz dome for exceptional cooking results.

Installation

Checking The Gas Type

Ensure your barbeque is suited to LPG or Natural Gas. Check for orange (LPG) or white (NG) stickers.

Changing The Gas Type

Barbeque manufactured for LPG. Conversion to natural gas requires a kit and licensed gas fitter.

Portable LPG Cylinders

Place LPG cylinder in cabinet's right side. Connect hose to cylinder, hand-tighten. Ensure cylinder is secure.

Fixed LPG Supply Or Natural Gas

Installations with twin 45 kg LPG or Natural Gas must be done by a licensed gasfitter per standards.

Leak Testing

Before use, test for leaks using soapy water on all connections: inlet, hose, cylinder/wall connection.

Lighting Your Barbeque

Lighting The Barbeque

Ensure gas is on and hood is up. Use flame thrower ignition or manual match holder.

Difficulty Lighting

If a burner doesn't light, turn off, wait a few minutes, and try again. Consult retailer if issues persist.

Controlling The Flames

Knobs have Off, High, Low positions. Adjust flame height by rotating knob between these positions.

Checking The Flame

For cast iron burners, check for soft blue flame with yellow tips. Adjust screw for yellow tipping if needed.

RQT Burners

RQT burners are factory preset for optimum performance. No adjustments are necessary.

Turning Off

Turn off cylinder first, let hose gas burn off, then turn off burner controls.

First Time Use

Curing The Cooking Surfaces

No curing needed for vitreous enameled or stainless steel surfaces. Wash before first use.

Fill The Drip Tray

Use fat absorbent material in the drip tray to prevent splashing and keep the barbeque clean.

Preparing To Cook

Lightly coat cooking surfaces with oil. Preheat barbeque on high for 5 minutes before setting temperature.

Controlling Flare Up

Flare-ups are caused by food juices/oils igniting. Trim fat, lower burners, or move food from flare.

Cooking Hints

Keeping Your Food Moist

Use tongs, avoid frequent turning, add salt last, baste with oil, use roasting hood for moisture.

Other Useful Tips

Cook on grill for flavour, marinate food, apply sauces late, slash fat to prevent curling.

Covered Cooking

Cooking With The Hood Closed

Roasting hood traps heat, moisture, flavour. Turn burners low/off to avoid overheating and burning food.

Direct Cooking Method

Place food directly over lit burners for frying, searing, grilling. Preheat 5 mins, then use low burner settings.

Direct Cooking Method (Continued)

Check cooking often. Use hood thermometer as a warning guide, keep below 200°C to avoid burning.

Barbeque Tips

Let meats rest before slicing. Burn off residue on hot surfaces after cooking for easier cleaning.

Indirect Cooking Method

Place food above off burners. Use high/low/off burner combinations for lower roasting temperatures.
