Overview

The Freedom V2 CPAP Battery is an external lithium-ion battery designed to power positive airway pressure (PAP) devices and portable electronic devices like cell phones and tablets when AC power is unavailable. It is also capable of functioning as an uninterrupted battery backup system for PAP devices in the event of a power outage.

Function Description:

The Freedom V2 CPAP Battery provides a portable power source for PAP devices, allowing users to operate their therapy equipment in locations without access to AC power, such as during travel, camping, or power outages. It features a DC OUT port for connecting to PAP devices via specific output cables or a 150W Sine Wave Power Inverter, and a Quick Charge 3.0 USB OUT port for charging portable electronic devices. The battery automatically turns on or off when a device is connected or disconnected from the DC OUT or USB OUT ports. For USB output, the charge level/reset button must be pressed to initiate power.

When used as a power backup, the battery bypasses its internal lithium-ion cells to power the PAP device directly from AC power when available. If AC power is lost, the battery automatically recognizes this and begins powering the PAP device.

The battery supports both single and dual battery configurations. In a dual battery setup, two Freedom V2 CPAP Batteries can be bridged together using a Bridge Cable to extend run times. For charging two batteries, battery B charges first, followed by battery A (which must be at least 15% charged to initiate dual charging). For powering a PAP device with two batteries, battery A discharges first, and once depleted, battery B begins powering the device.

Usage Features:

The Freedom V2 CPAP Battery is compatible with most common PAP devices. Specific DC output cables are manufactured by Battery Power Solutions for various PAP device models, while other models connect using the 150W Sine Wave Power Inverter. The original Freedom CPAP battery and its accessories are not compatible with the Freedom V2 CPAP battery.

The battery features a digital display screen that shows the charge level. Pressing the charge level/reset button illuminates the screen for a few seconds. To reset the battery, the charge level/reset button must be pressed for a full 10 seconds until the display screen flashes two dash marks, then released, and the screen allowed to go blank.

For optimal run times, it is strongly recommended to disable or detach heated humidification and heated tubing, as these can significantly reduce battery life by up to two-thirds or even prevent the battery from powering the device. Average run times are based on standard CPAP devices without heated humidification or tubing, at a pressure setting of 10 cm/H2O.

The battery can be charged using the PAP device's original power supply or the Freedom V2 power supply. Charging accessories, such as a solar panel or auto charge DC cable, are available separately for charging in vehicles or via solar power. During charging, it is normal for the power supply and battery to be slightly warm. If the display screen flashes but doesn't show a charge level at 0%, disconnecting and reconnecting the power supply after pressing the reset button may resolve the issue.

Maintenance Features:

The battery is equipped with a Battery Management Unit (BMU) that provides internal protection against thermal runaway (overheating), over voltage, under voltage, over current, over charging, over discharging, and short circuiting. Its aluminum alloy shell offers maximum cell protection and durability.

For optimal performance and longevity, the battery should be fully charged before storage and charged/discharged once every 90 days. It should be stored in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated place, away from extreme heat (> 104°F) and direct sunlight, with an optimal storage temperature range of 60°F to 80°F.

Users should regularly inspect the battery ports, connection cables, and other components for damage or signs of wear and should not use the battery if it is damaged or has been modified. The battery should not be dropped, hit, crushed, or exposed to moisture, open flames, heaters, incineration, or extreme heat. Disassembly or attempts to repair the battery or its components are not recommended as there are no user-serviceable parts inside. Lithium-ion batteries should be recycled according to local regulations.
