This document is an owner's manual and safety instructions for the Bauer 20V HYPERMAX™ LITHIUM Dual Port Charger, model 2108C-B.

Function Description:

The Bauer 20V HYPERMAX™ LITHIUM Dual Port Charger is designed to charge Bauer 20V Li-ion battery packs (sold separately). It features two battery charging ports, allowing for simultaneous charging of two battery packs. Additionally, the charger includes two USB charging ports, enabling the charging of USB devices such as cell phones or tablets concurrently with battery packs. The charger is intended for indoor use only and should be placed on a stable, solid, nonflammable surface with adequate ventilation during operation.

  • Input Rating: 120VAC, 60Hz
  • Output: 20VDC / 4A
  • Battery Type: Li-ion 20VDC Bauer Battery (sold separately)
  • USB Output: 2 Ports, 2A Max
  • Charging Temperature Range: 50–104° F (10–40° C)

Usage Features:

  • Dual Port Charging: The charger can accommodate and charge two Bauer 20V Li-ion battery packs simultaneously.
  • USB Charging Capability: Two integrated USB ports allow for charging of USB-powered devices, even while battery packs are charging.
  • Charging Indicators: The charger features Red and Green LED indicators for each charging port to communicate the charging status:
    • CHARGING: Red LED flashes, Green LED is constant.
    • CHARGED: Red LED is constant, Green LED is constant.
    • HOT/COLD DELAY: Red LED flashes, Green LED is off. This indicates the battery pack and/or charger are not within the correct charging temperature range. Charging will resume once the temperature is suitable.
    • PROBLEM PACK OR CHARGER: Both Red and Green LEDs flash. This indicates a potential issue with the battery pack or the charger itself, requiring inspection by a qualified technician.
  • Battery Pack Compatibility: Specifically designed for Bauer 20V Li-ion battery packs. Attempting to charge other battery types or damaged packs is explicitly warned against.
  • Charging Times (approximate):
    • 1.5 Ah Bauer Battery Pack: 40 minutes
    • 3.0 Ah Bauer Battery Pack: 50 minutes
    • 5.0 Ah Bauer Battery Pack: 85 minutes
  • Battery Protection: The charger is designed to protect the battery pack. If a Lithium-Ion battery is allowed to discharge completely, it can be ruined, so charging when the charge level is near empty is recommended. Battery packs do not need to be completely discharged before charging and will not develop a "memory."
  • Operation Environment: The charger must be used in a dry, indoor area with temperatures between 50–104° F. It should be placed on a stable, solid, nonflammable surface, at least 1 foot away from flammable objects, and with unobstructed vents to prevent overheating and fire hazards.
  • Connection: The charger plugs directly into a grounded 120VAC, 60Hz receptacle. Extension cords are not recommended for use with this charger.

Maintenance Features:

  • Pre-Use Inspection: Before each use, inspect the charger for loose hardware, misalignment or binding of moving parts, cracked or broken parts, damaged electrical wiring, or any other condition that may affect its safe operation. Do not use damaged equipment.
  • Post-Use Cleaning: After use, wipe external surfaces of the charger with a clean cloth.
  • Storage: Disconnect the battery pack and store the charger and any battery packs in a dry, indoor area, out of reach of children and away from metal objects (e.g., paperclips, coins) to prevent shorting.
  • No Internal Servicing: Users are explicitly warned not to open the charger or service internal parts to prevent electric shock and serious injury. All repairs should be performed by a qualified repair person using identical replacement parts.
  • Battery Disposal/Recycling: Li-ion battery packs must be recycled or disposed of properly. Do not short, incinerate, or open batteries.
  • Label Maintenance: Maintain labels and nameplates on the charger. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replacement.
  • FCC Compliance: The device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules, designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. Users are advised on measures to correct interference if it occurs.
