Overview

This manual describes the 28-Inch Wicker Fire Pit Table (models SKY5672 + SKY5673) from Best Choice Products, an outdoor appliance designed to provide warmth and ambiance.

Function Description:

The fire pit table is an outdoor heating appliance that uses a propane tank or natural gas tank as its fuel source. It features a burner that produces flames, which can be adjusted via a control knob. The unit is designed for outdoor use only and should not be operated in enclosed areas like buildings or garages. It is intended to be placed on a hard, level surface such as concrete or rock, and explicitly not on plastic composite or artificial wood decks. The fire pit is not designed for cooking and users should avoid placing food on its surface. It also includes a lid to cover the burner and glass beads when not in use, and hangers for storing the lid.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Fuel Type: Standard 20-pound propane tanks or natural gas tanks.
  • Maximum Gas Supply Pressure: 250 PSI.
  • Propane Tank Capacity: Do not fill more than 80% of its capacity.
  • Minimum Clearance: 72 inches above and 36 inches from the sides to combustible objects/constructions.
  • Operating Temperature/Wind: Operates at reduced efficiency in temperatures below 40°F or wind velocity higher than 10 mph.
  • Assembly Time: Up to 30 minutes.
  • Assembly Personnel: 1 person.
  • Hardware: M6 Washers (14 pcs), M6 x 20mm Screws (6 pcs), M6 x 30mm Screws (8 pcs).
  • Tools Provided: Allen Wrench.

Usage Features:

  • Ignition: The fire pit is ignited by pushing and turning the control knob counterclockwise to "low/ignite" and then repeatedly pressing the ignitor button. If flames do not ignite within 45 seconds, the user should turn off the gas, wait 5 minutes, and try again. A match or lighter can be used if necessary, but the control knob should not be pushed and held for more than 10 seconds during this process.
  • Flame Adjustment: Flames can be adjusted using the control knob, which has "low" and "high" settings.
  • Safety Features:
    • Gas Leak Detection: Users are instructed to check for leaks by brushing a mixture of soap and water on all connections; large bubbles indicate a leak.
    • Emergency Shutdown: If gas is smelled, users must not attempt to light the appliance, extinguish flames, disconnect the tank, and move people away from the immediate area.
    • Propane Tank Collar: The propane tank must have a collar to protect the gas valve.
    • Overfilling Prevention: Do not fill the propane tank more than 80% to prevent gas pooling.
    • Ventilation: Do not use in enclosed areas due to carbon monoxide production.
  • Glass Beads: Glass beads are provided and should be placed in the fire pit around the burner, but not covering the guard, as excessive beads can suffocate the flame.
  • Lid: A lid is provided to cover the burner and glass beads when the fire pit is not in use. It can be hung on designated hangers.
  • Propane Tank Installation: The propane tank is secured in a tank seat frame with a wingnut and the fuel hose regulator is connected by turning the coupling nut clockwise. The tank valve is turned counterclockwise to release gas.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Ensure the fire pit is completely cool before cleaning.
    • Use a soft brush or cloth with mild detergent and a soft cloth/sponge for stains and dirt.
    • Black soot on glass beads can be cleaned with a damp cloth.
    • Thoroughly dry the fire pit after cleaning.
    • Do not submerge the control panel or burner assembly in water.
    • Avoid petroleum-based or abrasive cleaners, rough sponges/brushes, and self-cleaning ovens.
    • Do not enlarge burner holes.
  • Storage:
    • Allow the fire pit to cool for 10 minutes before storage.
    • Disconnect the propane tank and store it separately, not in the vicinity of the fire pit.
    • Store the fire pit upright in a sheltered area away from inclement weather (rain, sleet, hail, snow, dust, debris).
    • Do not store the propane tank in temperatures over 120°F.
    • Place the cover on the fire pit to protect it.
    • Avoid direct sunlight during storage.
    • Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors/liquids near the fire pit.
    • It is recommended to store the fire pit indoors during winter. If stored indoors, disconnect and leave the propane tank outdoors.
    • For extended storage, remove the battery from the ignitor.
  • Hose Inspection: Routinely check hoses for wear or abrasions and do not use if damaged.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the burner not lighting, burner not producing light, black smoke, reduced flame height, irregular flame pattern, and flames blowing out. Solutions range from clearing obstructions and tightening connections to replacing parts or the propane tank.
