5. Inial use
Remove the product from its packaging and remove all packaging material. Open
the baery compartment of the outdoor sensor and insert 2x 1.5V AAA baeries.
You can use the 5V DC power adapter and connect it to the power connector of the
weather staon. Alternavely, open the baery compartment on the back of the
main unit and insert 3x 1.5V AAA baeries.
For technical data for polarity and plug type when using a separate power sup-
ply, please refer to the table on page 16. Plug the power supply into a properly
connected power outlet and connect it to the hollow plug connector on the back
of the main unit.
Note: If you want to use the device with baeries, then the backlight is not
permanently switched on. The backlight is permanently switched on when
operang with a power adapter.
The weather staon then aempts to establish connecon with the outdoor sen-
sor. Make sure that both the devices are with each other's range. The connecon
symbol " " ashes in the "Outdoor temperature display" of the main unit. If the
main unit cannot establish a connecon with the outdoor sensor within 3-4 minu-
tes, then it stops scanning.
If a connecon cannot be established, then this could be, for example, due to thick
walls, or to a long distance of the sensor from the main unit. In this case, posion
the sensor and the main unit closer to each other.
6. DCF signal
The DCF signal is a me signal which is sent out by one of the most accurate clocks
in the world. It is located near Frankfurt am Main. Under ideal condions, your
weather staon can receive the signal from a distance of up to 1500 km.
If the weather staon has detected the signal, then it shows the current Central
European Time, the date, and the day of the week depending on the basic sengs.
The DCF symbol " " is now shown on the display.
Once the aempt to receive a signal fails, the weather staon stops scanning aer
about 5 minutes. The DCF symbol disappears from the display.
