Overview

This document is a user manual for the Becken Air Fryer, model BAF5437.

Function Description

The Becken Air Fryer is designed for household use to air fry foods without oil. It provides a healthier alternative to traditional frying by circulating hot air to cook and crisp food. The appliance features a temperature control dial and a timer dial to manage the cooking process.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Temperature Range: 80 °C to 200 °C
  • Timer: 60-minute countdown timer
  • Power Indicator: Orange POWER light (illuminates when the air fryer is heating)
  • Heat Indicator: Green HEAT ON light (illuminates when the set temperature is reached and cycles ON/OFF to maintain temperature)
  • Power Supply: 220-240V AC (for electrical circuit, it should be operated on a separate circuit from other appliances to avoid overload)

Usage Features

Before First Use:

  1. The frying basket is shipped locked into the front of the air fryer body. Firmly grasp the handle to open and remove the basket.
  2. Remove all packing material and labels from inside and outside the air fryer.
  3. Wash the frying basket and crisping tray in hot, soapy water.
  4. The air fryer body should not be immersed in water; wipe it with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
  5. Align the notches in the crisping tray with the bumps in the basket wall and turn until the tray drops down.
  6. Lock the tray in place by turning it clockwise or counter-clockwise until the notches and bumps are not aligned.
  7. Insert and lock the clean frying basket into the front of the air fryer.

Operating Instructions:

  1. Place the air fryer on a flat, heat-resistant work area, close to an electrical outlet.
  2. Firmly grasp the frying basket handle to open the frying basket; then remove it from the machine and place it on a flat, clean surface.
  3. Place the crisping tray into the base of the frying basket.
  4. Arrange food on top of the crisping tray. Do not overfill the frying basket; never fill it more than 2/3 full. For fresh vegetables, do not add more than 1-1/2 cups.
  5. Fully insert the frying basket into the front of the air fryer.
  6. Plug the cord into a wall outlet.
  7. Select the air frying temperature from 80 °C to 200 °C using the Temperature Control Dial. The green HEAT ON light will illuminate when the set temperature is reached.
  8. Turn the timer dial to the desired air frying time (up to 60 minutes). The orange POWER light will illuminate to show the air fryer is heating.
  9. To ensure even cooking/browning, open the frying basket halfway through the cooking time. Check, turn, or vigorously shake foods in the frying basket.
  10. The air fryer will automatically turn OFF when the set air frying time has expired, indicated by one beep. Both the orange POWER light and the green HEAT ON light will turn off.
  11. If the basket is pulled out during operation, the orange POWER light and the air fryer will turn OFF, but the timer will continue to count down. Heating resumes when the basket is replaced.
  12. After air frying, turn both the temperature control dial and the timer dial to 0 (OFF) and unplug the air fryer when not in use.

Helpful Hints:

  • Spray olive oil or vegetable oil for air frying.
  • Cook pre-packaged foods with less oil and reduced cooking time (30-50% less than recipe baking temperature, 5-10°C lower).
  • Shake or turn foods vigorously halfway through cooking for best results.
  • Empty fat from the frying basket between batches when cooking high-fat foods like chicken wings to avoid excess smoke.
  • Pat food dry before cooking to encourage browning and avoid excess smoke.
  • Air fry small batches of freshly breaded foods, pressing breading onto food and refrigerating to help it adhere. Arrange food to allow air flow.
  • Reheat food at 160 °C for up to 10 minutes.
  • Always use a meat thermometer to ensure meat, poultry, and fish are cooked thoroughly.
  • The manual includes an "Air Frying Chart" with average total air frying times, temperatures, and actions required for various foods (e.g., frozen fries, homemade potato wedges, chicken breast, spring rolls, cake).

Maintenance Features

Care & Cleaning Instructions:

  1. Allow the air fryer to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Unplug the air fryer.
  3. Remove the frying basket and crisping tray. Ensure they are cool before cleaning. Use the central hole of the crisping tray to lift it out of the frying basket.
  4. Wash the frying basket and crisping tray in hot, soapy water. Do not use metal kitchen utensils or abrasive cleansers/products as they may damage the non-stick coating.
  5. The frying basket and crisping tray are dishwasher-safe (top rack recommended).
  6. The air fryer body should not be immersed in water. Wipe it with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
