Overview

This document describes the BEKO DC 1560 Dryer, a domestic appliance designed for drying laundry. It provides comprehensive instructions for safe operation, installation, program selection, and maintenance.

Function Description

The BEKO DC 1560 Dryer is an electrical appliance that removes moisture from washed laundry through a drying cycle. It is designed for domestic use and should only be used for drying laundry items that are marked as suitable for machine drying. The dryer operates by circulating air, which can be heated, through a drum containing the laundry. Moisture extracted from the laundry is either vented outdoors (for vented models) or condensed into a water tank (for condenser models). The drying process includes a cool-down cycle at the end to ensure items are left at a safe temperature.

The dryer features a control panel with a program selection knob, a Start/Pause/Cancel button, an On/Off button, and various indicator lights. These indicators include a filter cleaning warning light, a program follow-up indicator, a water tank warning light (for condenser models), and a time delay selection button.

Usage Features

Initial Preparations for Drying: To ensure energy efficiency, users should operate the product at its full capacity without exceeding it. Laundry should be spun at the highest possible speed in the washing machine to reduce drying time and energy consumption. It is recommended to dry similar types of laundry together. Sufficient clearance must be provided around the dryer for air circulation, and the front grill should not be blocked. The loading door should not be opened unnecessarily during drying, and new (wet) laundry should not be added during a cycle.

Laundry Suitability: Users must always follow the suggestions on laundry labels. Only laundry suitable for dryer drying should be processed, and the appropriate program must be selected. Items with metal attachments (e.g., belt buckles, metal buttons) should be avoided as they can damage the dryer. Delicate items like woollens, silk, nylon stockings, and embroidered fabrics, as well as items made of hermetic fibres (pillows, quilts) or foam/rubber, are generally unsuitable for machine drying. Laundry exposed to petroleum, oil, combustible, or explosive agents, even if washed, should not be dried in the machine due to fire and explosion risks. Overly wet or dripping laundry should also not be put into the dryer.

Loading: Before loading, all laundry items should be checked for forgotten lighters, coins, metal pieces, or needles. Fabric softeners and similar products should be used according to their manufacturers' instructions. Laundry should be spun at the highest possible speed allowed by the washing machine. Tangled laundry should be separated before loading. Laundry should be sorted by type and thickness, drying similar items together (e.g., fine kitchen towels dry faster than thick bath towels). Laundry should be placed loosely into the drum, and the loading door must be closed securely, ensuring no items are caught. The maximum load capacity specified in the "Programme Selection Table" should always be adhered to, as overloading can degrade drying performance and damage the dryer or laundry. For large items like bed sheets or tablecloths, it's advisable to stop the dryer 1-2 times during the cycle to separate bunched-up laundry.

Program Selection and Operation: After plugging in the machine and placing laundry inside, the "On/Off" button is pressed. Programs are selected using the program selection knob, with options like "Cottons," "Synthetics," and "Delicates," each offering different temperature settings and drying levels (e.g., "Extra Dry," "Ready to Wear," "Ready to Iron"). Special programs like "Ventilation" (for airing clothes without heat) and "Timer programs" (for specific drying durations at low temperatures) are also available.

The "Start/Pause/Cancel" button initiates, pauses, or cancels a program. A 2-hour anti-creasing program is activated if laundry is not removed immediately after the cycle ends, rotating the laundry at 10-minute intervals to prevent creasing.

Changing Programs and Adding Laundry: A program can be changed after it has started by cancelling the current program (pressing and holding "Start/Pause/Cancel" for 3 seconds) and then selecting a new one. Laundry can be added or removed during a cycle by pressing "Start/Pause/Cancel" to pause the dryer, opening the door, adding/removing items, and then closing the door and pressing "Start/Pause/Cancel" again to resume. However, adding wet laundry after the drying process has started may result in uneven drying.

Child-proof Lock: The dryer features a child-proof lock to prevent program interruption. It is activated by simultaneously pressing the "Start/Pause/Cancel" and "Cancel audio warning" buttons for 3 seconds. When active, the loading door and all keys except "On/Off" are deactivated. To deactivate, the same buttons are pressed for 3 seconds.

End of Program: At the end of a program, the "End/Anti-creasing," "Filter cleaning," and "Water tank" warning lights illuminate. The dryer should be turned off using the "On/Off" button, and laundry should be removed. The final step of the drying cycle is a cool-down phase without heat.

Maintenance Features

Filter Cleaning: The "Cover Filter" collects lint and fibres released from laundry during drying. It is crucial to clean the filter before or after each drying process. To clean, open the loading door, pull out the cover filter, open it, and remove lint/fibres by hand or with a soft cloth. Then, close the filter and place it back. If the filter surface becomes clogged over time, it should be washed with water and dried before reuse.

Sensor Cleaning (for models with a sensor): Humidity sensors detect laundry dryness. To clean them, open the loading door, allow the machine to cool, and wipe the metal sensors with a soft cloth dampened with vinegar, then dry them. This should be done approximately four times a year. Solvents or similar cleaning agents should not be used due to fire and explosion risks.

Water Tank Draining (for condenser models): Moisture condensed from damp laundry accumulates in the water tank. The water tank must be drained after each drying cycle or when the "Water tank" warning light illuminates. The collected water can be used in steam irons or air humidifiers but is not drinkable. The water tank may be located inside a drawer on the panel or behind the kick plate cover. If the water tank is full and not drained, the dryer will stop operating. To drain, carefully remove the water tank, open its cover, drain the water, clean any lint accumulation in the cover, and then replace the tank.

Condenser Cleaning (for condenser models): The condenser cools hot, humid air, causing moisture to condense into the water tank. The condenser should be cleaned after every 15 drying cycles or once a month. To clean, ensure the product has cooled down, unlock the four condenser locks after opening the kick plate, pull out the condenser, clean it with pressurized water until the water drains, and then replace it with the "Top" side facing upwards, ensuring all locks are securely engaged. Finally, close the kick plate cover.

General Maintenance: The inside and exhaust duct of the product should be cleaned periodically by qualified service personnel. In case of malfunctions or issues not resolvable by the safety instructions, the machine should be turned off, unplugged, and an authorised service agent contacted. Users should never attempt to repair the machine themselves.
