The Beko KG520 refrigerator is designed for indoor, domestic use in various settings such as staff kitchens, farmhouses, hotels, motels, hostels, and catering services. It is not suitable for commercial use or for use in open or enclosed external environments like vessels, balconies, or terraces, as exposure to rain, snow, sunlight, and wind can pose a fire risk. The appliance features a cooler compartment and a freezer compartment, with adjustable temperatures for both. It includes various storage components such as adjustable door shelves, a bottle shelf, egg holders, an ice container, a crisper, a cold storage drawer, adjustable shelves, and a foldable wine bin. Some models may also include a fan and illumination lamp. The cooling system uses R600a refrigerant, which is flammable, requiring careful handling to avoid damage to the pipes.
The refrigerator is equipped with a control panel that includes a Fault Condition Indicator, Cooler Compartment Temperature Setting Key, Cooler Compartment OFF (Vacation) Function, Energy Saving (Display Off) Indicator, and Quick Freezing Key. The Fault Condition Indicator activates if the refrigerator cannot cool adequately or if there is a sensor error, or if warm food is loaded into the freezer or the door is left open for too long. The Cooler Compartment Temperature Setting Key allows users to set the cooler temperature to 8 °C, 6 °C, 4 °C, or 2 °C. The Vacation Function, activated by pressing a key for 3 seconds, turns off active cooling in the cooler compartment while other compartments continue to cool at their set temperatures. The Energy Saving mode automatically activates when doors are not opened for an extended period, turning off all display icons except the energy-saving icon. The Freezer Compartment Temperature Setting Key allows setting the freezer temperature to -18 °C, -20 °C, -22 °C, or -24 °C. The Quick Freezing Key, when pressed, sets the freezer compartment to -27 °C for rapid freezing of fresh food and automatically deactivates after a specified period.
The AeroFlow air distribution system ensures homogeneous temperature distribution in the fresh food storage compartment, minimizing temperature fluctuations and reducing moisture loss by avoiding direct air blowing onto food. This helps preserve the freshness of stored food for longer periods.
Before first use, the refrigerator should run for 6 hours without food and with the door closed, unless absolutely necessary. Condensation on door/body shelves and glassware is normal due to temperature changes from opening and closing the door. The compressor may make noise, and the front edges of the refrigerator may feel warm, which is normal to prevent condensation.
For energy saving, users are advised not to keep refrigerator doors open for long periods, avoid placing hot food or beverages inside, and not overfill the refrigerator to ensure proper internal air flow. Defrosting frozen foods in the cooler compartment can save energy. Food should be stored in closed containers to prevent odor and taste changes. Cooked hot meals should be brought to room temperature before being placed in the refrigerator. Unripe tropical fruits should not be stored in the refrigerator as it can accelerate ripening. Onions, garlic, ginger, and other root vegetables should be stored in dark, cold room conditions.
The crisper is designed to keep vegetables fresh by preserving humidity, intensifying cold air circulation. Green-leaved vegetables and fruits should be stored separately to prolong their life. The cold storage drawer is suitable for delicatessen products, dairy products, meat, chicken, or fish that require colder storage conditions and are to be consumed quickly; it is not suitable for fruits and vegetables.
The door opening side of the refrigerator can be reversed by an authorized service. An audible alert sounds if the door remains open for 1 minute, stopping when the door is closed or any display button is pressed.
Regular cleaning is essential for hygiene and preventing odors. The interior should be cleaned regularly with a sponge, warm water, and carbonated water. Chemical solvents, sharp tools, abrasive cleaning agents, detergents, gas, gasoline, thinner, alcohol, varnish, or similar substances should not be used on the product. Steam or steamed cleaning materials should also be avoided as they can cause short circuits or electric shocks. Water should be kept away from electronic circuits and lighting. The dust from the ventilation grill at the rear should be removed at least once a year with a dry cloth. The door and body racks should be cleaned with a damp cloth after removing all contents. Chlorinated water or cleaning products should not be used on exterior surfaces or chrome-coated parts to prevent rust.
For stainless steel external surfaces, a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaning agent and a soft lint-free cloth should be used, followed by polishing with a micro-fiber cloth dampened with water and a dry polishing chamois, always following the grain of the stainless steel.
To prevent odors, food should be kept in sealed containers, and expired or spoiled foods should be removed promptly. Oil spilled on plastic surfaces should be cleaned immediately with warm water to prevent damage.
In case of a power failure, the compressor may stop due to unbalanced gas pressure in the cooling system, triggering a thermic safeguard. The product will restart after approximately 6 minutes. If it does not restart, authorized service should be contacted.
The user manual specifies that certain simple failures, such as replacing door handles, door hinges, trays, baskets, and door gaskets, can be self-repaired by the end-user following instructions available on support.beko.com. However, for other repairs, authorized professional repairers should be contacted to avoid safety issues and to maintain warranty validity. The manufacturer provides original spare parts for 10 years.
