Overview

This document provides installation and operation instructions for the Bellini 60cm Freestanding Dishwasher, covering models BDWM46W, BDWM46W-F, BDWM46X, and BDWM46X-F.

The dishwasher is designed for household and similar applications, including staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working environments; farm houses; by clients in hotels, motels, and other residential type environments; and bed and breakfast type environments. It can be used by children aged 8 and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning safe use and understand the hazards. Children should not play with the appliance, and cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children without supervision.

Safety Information:

Installation and repair must be carried out by a qualified technician. Packaging material can be dangerous for children. The appliance is for indoor household use only. To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse the unit, cord, or plug in water or other liquid. Always unplug the dishwasher before cleaning or performing maintenance. Use a soft cloth moistened with mild soap, then wipe with a dry cloth.

Earthing Instructions:

The appliance must be earthed to reduce the risk of electric shock in case of malfunction. It is equipped with an earthing conductor plug that must be plugged into an appropriate, earthed outlet in accordance with local codes. Improper connection of the earthing conductor can result in electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or service representative if unsure about proper grounding. Do not modify the plug if it doesn't fit the outlet; have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.

Usage Precautions:

Do not abuse, sit on, or stand on the door or dish rack. Do not operate the dishwasher unless all enclosure panels are in place. Open the door carefully during operation to avoid water squirting out. Do not place heavy objects or stand on the door when open, as the appliance could tip forward. When loading, locate sharp items to avoid damaging the door seal. Knives and other sharp utensils must be loaded with points facing down or horizontally. Dishwasher detergents are strongly alkaline and dangerous if swallowed; avoid skin and eye contact, and keep children away when the door is open. Ensure the detergent powder is empty after the wash cycle.

General Use Guidelines:

Do not wash plastic items unless marked "dishwasher safe." For unmarked plastic items, check manufacturer recommendations. Use only detergents and rinse agents recommended for automatic dishwashers. Never use soap, laundry detergent, or hand washing detergent. The door should not be left open to avoid tripping hazards. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, service agent, or similarly qualified person. During installation, the power supply must not be excessively bent or flattened. Do not tamper with controls. The appliance must be connected to the main water valve using new hose sets; old sets should not be reused. To save energy, the appliance will switch off automatically after 30 minutes of no operation in standby mode.

Disposal:

Dispose of packaging and the appliance at a recycling center. Cut off the power supply cable and render the door closing device unusable. Cardboard packaging is made from recycled paper and should be disposed of in waste paper collection. Correct disposal prevents potential negative environmental and human health consequences. For detailed recycling information, contact your local city office or household waste disposal service. Do not dispose of this product as unsorted municipal waste; separate collection is necessary for special treatment.

Product Overview:

The dishwasher features an inner pipe, dispenser, lower spray arm, and filter assembly. It includes a cutlery basket, upper basket (with cutlery rack, upper spray arm, and cup rack), and lower basket. Pictures are for reference and models may vary.

Basket Used Tips:

The upper basket height can be adjusted to accommodate taller dishes. To adjust, pull out the upper basket, remove it, re-attach it to upper or lower rollers, and push it in. For Type 2 adjustment, lift the upper basket at the center of each side until it locks into the upper position, or lift adjust handles to lower it. Cup shelves can be folded back to make room for taller items or removed. The spikes of the lower basket can be lowered for larger items.

Maintenance and Cleaning:

  • External Care: Clean door seals regularly with a soft damp cloth. Wipe off food and drink residues from the sides of the door before closing. Clean the control panel with a soft damp cloth only. Do not use spray cleaners, abrasive cleaners, or scouring pads on outer surfaces.
  • Internal Care (Filtering System): The filtering system retains coarse debris. Check and clean filters regularly under running water. To clean, hold the coarse filter, rotate anticlockwise, and lift it out. Pull off the fine filter from the bottom of the assembly. Detach the coarse filter from the main filter by squeezing tabs. Rinse food remnants under running water; use a soft cleaning brush for thorough cleaning. Reassemble filters in reverse order, rotating clockwise to close. Do not overtighten filters or use the dishwasher without them.
  • Spray Arms: Clean spray arms regularly to prevent clogging from hard water chemicals. To remove the upper spray arm, hold the nut and rotate the arm counterclockwise. Pull out the lower spray arm upward. Wash arms in soapy, warm water, and use a soft brush to clean jets. Replace after thorough rinsing.

Caring For The Dishwasher:

  • Frost Precaution: In winter, cut off electrical power, turn off water supply, disconnect and drain the water inlet pipe, reconnect the pipe, and remove water from the sump with a sponge.
  • After Every Wash: Turn off water supply and leave the door slightly open to prevent moisture and odors.
  • Remove The Plug: Always remove the plug before cleaning or maintenance.
  • No Solvents or Abrasive Cleaning: Use a cloth with warm soapy water for exterior and rubber parts. For interior spots, use a cloth dampened with vinegar or a dishwasher-specific cleaning product.
  • When Not In Use For A Long Time: Run an empty wash cycle, remove the plug, turn off water, and leave the door slightly open to prolong door seal life and prevent odors.
  • Moving The Appliance: Keep the appliance vertical if possible; it can be positioned on its back if necessary.
  • Seals: Periodically clean seals with a damp sponge to prevent odors from trapped food.

Installation Instruction:

  • Electrical Shock Hazard: Disconnect electrical power before installing. Installation of pipes and electrical equipment should be done by professionals.
  • About Power Connection: Do not use extension cords or adapter plugs. Do not cut or remove the earthing connection from the power cord.
  • Electrical Requirements: Refer to the rating label for voltage. Use a 10A/13A/16A fuse or circuit breaker. Ensure proper earthing.
  • Water Supply And Drain (Cold Water Connection): Connect the cold water supply hose to a threaded 3/4 inch connector, ensuring it's tightly fastened. If pipes are new or unused for a long time, let water run until clear to prevent blockage.
  • How to connect/disconnect the safety supply hose: Pull hoses from the storage compartment, tighten screws to the faucet, and turn water on. To disconnect, turn off water and unscrew the hose.
  • Connection Of Drain Hoses: Insert the drain hose into a drain pipe (min. 4 cm diameter) or sink, ensuring it's not bent or crimped. Drain pipe height must be less than 1000mm. The free end must not be immersed in water. Securely fix the drain hose. If the sink is higher than 1000mm from the floor, drain excess water into a lower container. Ensure the drain hose is not kinked or squashed. For extensions, use a similar drain hose no longer than 4 meters. The waste connection must be less than 100 cm from the bottom of the dish.

Position The Appliance:

Place the appliance in the desired location, with the back against the wall and sides against adjacent cabinets. Water supply and drain hoses can be positioned on either side.

  • Levelling the appliance: Adjust the screwing level of the feet to alter height. The appliance should not be inclined more than 2°. This applies only to freestanding dishwashers.
  • Free Standing Installation (Fitting between existing cabinets): The dishwasher's height (845 mm) allows fitting between modern fitted kitchen cabinets. Feet can be adjusted. The laminated top is heatproof, scratchproof, and stainproof.
  • Underneath existing work top: Remove the work top by unscrewing screws under the rear edge (a). After removal, screw them again under the rear edge (b). Height will be reduced to 815 mm to fit under kitchen worktops.

Troubleshooting Tips:

The manual provides a table of common problems, possible causes, and solutions:

  • Dishwasher doesn't start: Fuse blown, power not on, door not closed, low water pressure.
  • Water not pumped from dishwasher: Twisted/trapped drain hose, clogged filter, clogged kitchen sink.
  • Suds in the tub: Wrong detergent.
  • Spilled rinse-aid: Wipe immediately.
  • Stained tub interior: Detergent with colorant.
  • White film on inside surface: Hard water minerals.
  • Rust stains on cutlery: Non-corrosion resistant items.
  • Knocking noise in the dishwasher: Spray arm hitting items, loose crockery.
  • Knocking noise in water pipes: Installation issue or piping cross-section.
  • Dishes not clean: Not enough detergent, blocked spray arms, dirty/improperly fitted filter, blocked spray arm jets.
  • Cloudiness on glassware: Soft water and too much detergent.
  • Black or grey marks on dishes: Aluminum utensils rubbed against dishes.
  • Detergent left in dispenser: Dishes blocking dispenser.
  • Dishes aren't drying: Improper loading, too little rinse-aid, dishes removed too soon, wrong program selected, low-quality cutlery coating.

Loading The Baskets According To AS/NZS 2007.1:

  • Upper basket: For cups, saucers, glasses, dessert dishes, forks, and knives. Light flatware on the rack (total weight < 1.5kg).
  • Lower basket: For dinner plates, soup plates, and cutlery basket.
  • Cutlery rack/basket: Place light flatware on the shelf (total weight < 1.5kg). Sharp utensils should be loaded with points down. Do not let items extend through the bottom.

Function Of The Rinse Aid And Detergent:

  • Rinse Aid: Prevents water droplets, spots, and streaks, and improves drying. Use only branded liquid rinse aid. Do not fill with other substances. Refill when the warning light is on or the optical level indicator shows less than 1/4 full. Adjust the rinse aid reservoir dial (1-6) to prevent spots or sticky stains.
  • Detergent: Necessary for cleaning. Use only dishwasher-specific detergent. Keep it fresh and dry. Do not put powdered detergent into the dispenser until ready to wash. Dishwasher detergent is corrosive; keep out of reach of children.
  • Filling The Detergent Dispenser: Push the latch to open the cover. Add detergent to the larger cavity (A) for the main wash cycle. For heavily soiled loads, add some detergent to the smaller cavity (B) for the pre-wash cycle. Close the cover until it locks.

Programming The Dishwasher:

  • Wash Cycle Table: Provides details on programs (Intensive, Heavy, Normal, Glass, 90 mins, Rapid), including description, detergent needed, running time, energy consumption, water consumption, and rinse aid requirement.
  • Starting A Cycle Wash: Load dishes, pour in detergent, plug in, ensure water supply is on, close the door, press Power, choose a program, then press Start/Pause.
  • Changing The Program Mid-cycle: If the detergent has not been released, pause the washing, press the Program button for >3 seconds to cancel, select a new program, then press Start/Pause after 10 seconds. If detergent has been released, reset the dishwasher and refill the dispenser.
  • Forget To Add A Dish? Pause the washing, wait 5 seconds, open the door, add dishes, close the door, then press Start/Pause after 10 seconds. Opening the door mid-cycle is dangerous due to hot steam.

Error Codes:

The dishwasher displays error codes for malfunctions:

  • Rapid indicator fleets frequently: Longer inlet time (faucets not opened, restricted water intake, low water pressure).
  • 90 mins and Rapid indicator fleets frequently: Not reaching required temperature (heating element malfunction).
  • Glass indicator fleets frequently: Overflow (some element of dishwasher leaks).
  • Warning: If overflow occurs, turn off the main water supply. If water is in the base pan, remove it before restarting.
