Why doesn't the shortening flow freely through the Belshaw Brothers EZ18 filter system?

If the shortening isn't flowing freely through the filter system, it could be due to several reasons. The hose might be crimped, so try straightening it. Alternatively, the hose or drain tube could be clogged with shortening; soak them in warm water to dissolve the blockage, and then let the hose dry. Also, the pickup tube might be clogged with residue, in which case you should remove and clean it.
