How to fix a Benchmark Portable Generator when the engine will not start?

If your Benchmark Portable Generator's engine won't start, there could be several reasons. First, ensure you have gasoline in the tank and that the engine oil level is adequate; add fuel or oil as needed. Check that the choke is in the correct 'Start' position. If you've pulled the recoil cord twice without success, squeeze the trigger to release built-up water pressure. Also, make sure the spark plug cap is securely connected and that the spark plug isn't fouled; replace it if necessary.
