- Ventilate the tent thoroughly at night. People use a lot of oxygen, converting it to vapour and CO2 gas that needs to
be dispersed. Cooking also generates a lot of vapour that needs to be dispersed.
- If condensation forms on the outside of the tent during the night, shake the tent carefully while it is still assembled.
is will ensure that most of the moisture will run down the outside of the tent walls, and prevent the inner walls from
becoming unnecessarily damp.
- If possible, all cooking apparatus should be used outside the tent. All fuel-based camping apparatus should be lit out-
side the tent. Be particularly careful with open ames near the mosquito net openings. is is the tent’s most ammable
material. Locate the tent well away from camp res and/or open ames! Remember that the wind may turn. Open
ames inside the tent must be used with care and without the oor accessory.
Maintenance of Bergans tents:
- e Bergans Teepee is manufactured in a heavy duty polyester canvas. Nevertheless, use the tent with care.
- Wipe dry dirt and grime from the tent using a moist cloth at the end of your trip. e tent should always be aired
thoroughly aer use. If the tent is damp from condensation, turn it inside out to dry.
- Bergans tents are washable. Wash by hand in a large container using water at a maximum temperature of 40°C. De-
tergents should be avoided unless the tent is very dirty. If it is necessary to use detergents, the mildest type should be
used. Enzyme-based agents may harm the external canvas and should be avoided.
A few tips on the choice of a camping site:
- Choose a camping site that is sheltered from the wind. A camping site sheltered from the wind is much beer than a
at, windy site.
- Clear the site of sharp stones and twigs.
- Remember that bushes and shrubs not only provide shelter from the wind, but may also damage the tent canvas
should the wind increase in strength.
Respect nature and the owner of the land. Do not destroy vegetation needlessly. Gather just enough wood for your
own use and tidy waste from the camp site before leaving. is will enable others to enjoy a camping trip in the area as
well. Respect seasonal prohibitions against the use of open ame.
Ensure that the tent is suciently ventilated.
Keep vents open when in use.
Insucient ventilation may be harmful to your health.
