The BERKEM GALVALINK® 302B is a modular plating plant designed for professional use in gold, custom jewelry, watchmaking, and precision mechanics. It is specifically configured for 2-liter capacity operations.
Function Description
The GALVALINK® 302B is an electrolytic plating machine that processes objects by immersing them in galvanic solutions. It features two Pyrex glass tanks, each with a 2-liter capacity, for different stages of the plating process.
- Tank 1 (left): Primarily used for degreasing operations. It does not have a thermostat but is equipped with an anode output for a stainless steel electrode.
- Tank 2 (right): Designated for plating use (e.g., Rhodium, Gold, Silver, Palladium). This tank includes a digital thermostat for temperature control, a magnetic stirrer to ensure solution homogeneity, and an electrode in platinized titanium.
The machine is equipped with a current and voltage rectifier, allowing for variable output from 0 to 12 Volts and 0 to 10 Amperes. The system allows for flexible use, as the operator can modify the sequence of the galvanic tanks based on specific needs, given that both tanks have anode contacts.

Operating Modes (ANNEX 6):
The machine offers several operating modes accessible via the display:
- VOLT/AMPERE Mode: Allows selection of the desired voltage or amperage for the plating process.
- TIMER/COUNTER Mode: Displays the work time, total ampere/minutes, and allows for resetting these values.
- MODE (Working Mode): Includes options like FREE MODE, TIME MODE, CLICK MODE, and PRG T (programmed mode).
- TEMPERATURE/MIXER Mode: Allows setting the work temperature and agitation speed.
- PRG T Mode: Enables the operator to program up to 5 different work sequences, each with specific time and voltage/amperage settings.
- FREE MODE: For continuous operation without a set time.
- TIME MODE: For operations with a set duration.
- CLICK MODE: For operations based on accumulated ampere/minutes.
Quick Settings (Section 10):
The manual provides sequences of key presses for quick adjustments:
- Setting work temperature.
- Setting agitation speed (550-600 RPM recommended).
- Setting supply type (VOLT or AMPERE).
- Setting working time (for "TIME" mode).
- Setting working ampere/minutes (for "CLICK" mode).
- Resetting total ampere/minutes of the machine.
- Partial ampere/minutes reset.
Safety Features:
- Safety Symbols: Clearly marked symbols indicate potential hazards such as attention danger, hot surfaces, corrosive substances, and voltage.
- Fume Suction Hood: Compulsory use of a fume suction hood is required due to vapor development during electrolytic plating.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Operators must wear protective clothing, goggles, gloves, apron, and a safety mask to protect airways.
- Interlocking/Mobile Guards: The machine has no mobile parts accessible to the operator requiring use of interlocking fixed or mobile guards.
- Emergency Stop: The machine can be stopped at any time using the main switch (Fig.3-2) in position O.
- Cover: A sturdy, hinged cover protects the glass Pyrex Tanks. During use, the cover must remain open to allow correct material positioning.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning:
- Tanks: The tanks should be emptied and cleaned regularly.
- Surfaces: Surfaces dirtied by galvanic liquids must be cleaned using suitable PPE (gloves, apron, goggles, mask).
- External Cleaning: The machine casing should be cleaned with a soft cloth and, if necessary, brushes and tools for hard-to-reach areas.
Repairs:
- Operators are strictly forbidden from carrying out repairs. In case of a fault, qualified staff, the retailer, or the manufacturer must be contacted.
Fuse Replacement:
- The machine is protected with a 5 A 220Vca fuse located in a drawer in the mains socket on the side of the machine casing.
- The procedure involves switching off the machine, disconnecting the power cable, opening the fuse door, replacing the faulty fuse, and reconnecting power.
Spare Parts:
- An updated list of spare parts is available on the manufacturer's website:
http://www.berkem.it/catalogo.aspx.
