The Will-I-Loader by BerleyPro is an Australian-made kayak loader designed to assist in lifting kayaks onto vehicle roofs. It features a robust mechanical design that simplifies the loading and unloading process, making it easier for users to transport their kayaks.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Will-I-Loader is to provide mechanical assistance for lifting kayaks onto and off vehicle roofs. It utilizes a system of crossbars, cradles, a gas strut, and a ratchet mechanism to facilitate this process. Users pull down the crossbar to a preferred loading height, place the kayak's nose onto the crossbar, and then push the kayak forward until it engages with the bumper. As the loader lifts the kayak, the user walks forward, keeping the rear of the kayak low to clear the vehicle. For unloading, the pin is removed from the ratchet mechanism, the bumper lever is disengaged, and the crossbar is pulled to the desired unloading height. The kayak is then pulled off the roof rack, and gentle pressure is applied to the loader to slowly lower the kayak, adjusting its angle to avoid contact with the vehicle.

Maintenance Features:

Keep Loader Clean (Every Use): The Will-I-Loader should be hosed off with fresh water after any use, especially in saltwater environments, to remove salt, grit, and dust.
Lubricate Gas Strut (1-2 Months): The gas strut shaft needs regular inspection for cleanliness and damage. It must be lubricated with Silicone Spray every 1-2 months. A corroded strut must be replaced.
Lubricate Ratchet Mechanism (3-6 Months, Usage Dependant): The pre-greased ratchet mechanism will require grease replacement over time. Heavy Marine Grease is recommended for the ratchet teeth and engagement rod.
Check Fasteners (1000kms): All fasteners should be regularly checked and re-tightened if necessary, as frequent travel can cause bolts to loosen.
Pre-use Checks: Before each use, all fasteners and tethers should be re-checked, and a test drive is recommended to ensure nothing has loosened.
Gas Strut Replacement: If the gas strut becomes rusty or faulty, it must be replaced.
