Overview

The Bernini Palermo Fountain is an elegant decorative water feature designed to add a touch of festivity to any space, inspired by the grand opera performances of Palermo, Sicily. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for assembly, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The Palermo Fountain is a self-contained water feature that circulates water from a reservoir through a pump to the fountain topper, creating a continuous flow of water. It incorporates LED lights to enhance its aesthetic appeal, especially in low-light conditions. The primary function is to provide a soothing visual and auditory experience through its flowing water and integrated lighting.

Important Technical Specifications:

While specific electrical ratings (voltage, wattage) are not explicitly detailed in the provided manual, the fountain operates using an electrical power cord that connects to an outlet. Users are advised to use all electrical safety precautions, ensuring the plug is dry and clean before insertion. The water pump is designed to be fully submerged in water for optimal operation and longevity. The fountain is intended for use with clean water, and its components are designed for easy assembly and disassembly for maintenance.

Usage Features:

  • Easy Assembly: The fountain is designed for straightforward assembly. Key components include the fountain topper, fountain base, decorative rocks, water pump/LED light combo, water tube, and power cord. Diagram 1 illustrates how these parts fit together.
  • Water Flow Adjustment: The water pump features a Water Flow Adjustment Lever, allowing users to control the intensity of the water flow. Moving the lever towards the "+" sign increases the flow, while moving it towards the "-" sign decreases it.
  • Integrated LED Lighting: The fountain includes LED lights that illuminate the water flow, creating an attractive visual effect. The LED lights are integrated with the water pump for a combined unit.
  • Indoor/Outdoor Use: While not explicitly stated for outdoor use, the instructions for cold storage suggest it can be used in environments where freezing temperatures are a concern, implying potential outdoor placement in suitable climates. However, it must be drained and brought indoors during freezing conditions.
  • Water Level Monitoring: Users are instructed to periodically check and fill the water reservoir due to evaporation, ensuring the water pump remains fully submerged at all times to prevent damage and voiding the warranty.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes several safety instructions, including close supervision when used near children, avoiding contact with moving or hot parts, unplugging before maintenance or filling, not yanking the cord, using the appliance only for its intended purpose, and avoiding installation where it will be exposed to extreme weather or freezing temperatures. It also advises against using unrecommended attachments and provides guidance on extension cord usage.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Cleaning: To maintain optimal performance and prevent algae buildup, the fountain should be cleaned every two months. This involves unplugging, draining all water, disassembling the components, and cleaning them with a mild soap and soft cloth. Harsh scrubbing is discouraged to protect the finish.
  • Water Pump Cleaning (Impeller Maintenance): The impeller, a critical component of the water pump, requires periodic cleaning to ensure optimal water circulation. The manual provides a five-step process for cleaning the impeller:
    1. Remove the pump cover panel.
    2. Remove the impeller chamber cover.
    3. Remove the impeller from its chamber.
    4. Rinse the impeller to remove debris.
    5. Reassemble the pump.
  • Cold Storage Preparation: Before the first freeze of the season, the fountain must be drained, cleaned, dried, and brought indoors to a warm, dry area for storage. This prevents damage from freezing water and provides an opportunity for thorough annual cleaning of the pump.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: A comprehensive troubleshooting section helps users diagnose and resolve common issues such as "Water Not Flowing," "Low Water Flow," "Loud Sound," and "Suddenly Stops." Solutions often involve checking water level, pump for debris/kinks, tube connections, and adjusting water flow.
  • Priming the Water Pump: If the pump runs but no water flows, users can prime it by unplugging, gently shaking the submerged pump to dislodge air bubbles, and then plugging it back in.
  • Customer Support: Bernini offers customer care assistance via phone and email for any questions regarding assembly, parts, operation, or warranty claims. They also provide a website with instructional videos and product updates.

Warranty:

The Palermo Fountain comes with a one-year limited warranty covering manufacturing defects in workmanship and material from the date of original purchase. Bernini will repair, replace, or supply defective parts at their discretion. The warranty requires the purchaser to contact Bernini with a description of the defect, including digital pictures if requested, and proof of purchase. The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, mishandling, abuse, non-compliance with instructions, improper assembly/installation, or normal wear and tear.
