Overview

The ELESHELL-6.1/10.2/14.3K is a lithium battery energy storage system designed for residential applications, offering short-term backup capabilities. It functions as an energy storage unit, integrating a Battery Management System (BMS) to manage and monitor cells, including voltage, current, and temperature, thereby extending lifespan and providing protection against over-discharge, overcharge, over-current, high/low temperature, and other abnormal states. The system automatically manages charging status, discharge state, and balance state. Multiple batteries can be connected in parallel to expand storage capacity and continuous power support, with support for up to 16 parallel operations.

Usage Features:

The ELESHELL battery system offers a user-friendly interface with a power switch, ADDR Dial address, COM1 (RS485/CAN) and COM2 (RS485/RS232) ports, Bluetooth, Wifi, and clearly marked battery positive and negative poles. The start button is a press-and-release type that locks into position. The dial-up switch allows for setting the battery BMS address, with the host address being 0 and slave addresses 1-15. The dialing rule for setting the battery module address is sequential, from the battery closest to the inverter to the farthest.

The system supports communication with an inverter BMS via CAN/RS485 protocols. It also includes features to prevent deep discharge; if the battery capacity is less than 8%, the BMS controls the inverter to forcibly charge through CAN/RS485 communication. If the SOC is lower than 97% for one consecutive month, the BMS controls the inverter to fully charge the battery to correct the SOC error.

Installation:

The installation process involves fixing the battery in either a wall-hanging or landing mode. For wall-hanging, plate 1 is fixed to the wall, and plate 2 is locked to the back of the battery and hung on plate 1. For landing mode, the base plate is locked to the battery base and fixed to the ground. After physical installation, power cables are connected to the inverter and combiner box, followed by internal communication lines to the inverter via a hub branch network port. Finally, the BMS communication address is set using the dial-up switch.

Safety Measures:

Strict adherence to safety measures is crucial for preventing personal injury or property damage and ensuring long-term operation.

  • Environmental Requirements:

    • Do not expose the battery to temperatures above 50°C or near any heat source.
    • Avoid moisture, liquid, corrosive gas, combustible gas, or direct sunlight for extended periods.
    • Battery power terminals must not contact conductive objects.
    • Keep the battery in a safe place away from children and animals.
  • Operation Precautions:

    • Do not disassemble, smash, fall, or puncture the battery.
    • Do not touch the battery pack with wet hands.
    • Do not reverse the polarity or short-circuit terminals. Remove all metal jewelry before installation or repair.
    • Handle products according to local safety regulations.
    • Store and use the battery as per the user manual.
    • Ensure reliable grounding.
    • Disconnect all batteries from wires before installation and repair.
    • Do not stack batteries outside protective packaging, and stacking should not exceed the specified quantity.
    • Continued operation of a damaged battery can lead to serious injuries.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Turn off the system power supply before cleaning. Regular cleaning of the LDHEB is recommended. Use a soft, dry brush or dust collector to remove dust from the shell. Do not use solvents or corrosive liquids.
  • Recharging Requirements During Normal Storage:
    • Store the battery in an environment with a temperature range of -10°C to +45°C.
    • Regularly maintain the battery by charging it to 40% SOC with a 0.5C current after long storage.
    • Storage time limits vary with temperature:
      • Below -10°C: Prohibited.
      • -10°C to 25°C (5%-70% humidity): ≤ 12 months, maintain 30%≤SOC≤60%.
      • 25°C to 35°C (5%-70% humidity): ≤ 6 months, maintain 30%≤SOC≤60%.
      • 35°C to 45°C (5%-70% humidity): ≤ 3 months, maintain 30%≤SOC≤60%.
      • Above 45°C: Prohibited.
  • Recharging Requirements for Excessive Discharge:
    • Charge an over-discharged (90%DOD) battery within specified times to prevent damage:
      • -10°C to 25°C: ≤ 15 days (battery pack disconnected from PCS).
      • 25°C to 45°C: ≤ 7 days (battery pack disconnected from PCS).
      • -10°C to 45°C: ≤ 12 hours (battery pack connected to the inverter).

Common Issues and Solutions:

The inverter LCD display provides operating status, warning, and alarm information.

  • Battery cannot be turned on (LED indicators off): Indicates battery depth discharge requiring charging. If an external charger supply voltage of 51V or above doesn't resolve it, contact support.
  • Battery turns on but doesn't charge/discharge (red light indicates abnormality):
    • Temperature (Above 55°C or below -10°C): Battery protection turns on. Solution: Move the battery to a normal operating temperature range (-10°C to 55°C).
    • Current (e.g., LDHEB-4400 current > 60A, LDHEB-6100 current > 80A): Battery protection device opens. Solution: If working current is too large, change settings on the power side.
    • High Voltage (battery voltage > 57.6V): Battery charging protection turns on. Solution: If fully charged, discharge for a period. If charging voltage is too high, change settings on the power side.
    • Low Voltage (battery discharged to 49V or lower): Battery discharge protection turns on. Solution: Charge until the red light goes out. If the fault persists, turn off the battery and contact support.
  • SOC LED differences in multiple battery parallel systems:
    • First installation: Charge all batteries fully to balance capacity.
    • Minimum SOC LED indicator < 1 of maximum SOCLED indicator: If restored within 10 minutes, normal operation.
    • Before expanding capacity: Charge online batteries to 45%-50% SOC.

Handling of the Battery System:

  • Dispose of the system according to local regulations for electronic waste and second-hand batteries.
  • Do not treat the battery system as household waste.
  • Avoid exposing the battery to high heat, direct sunlight, high humidity, corrosive environments, combustible gas, or liquid.
  • In case of a damp or immersed battery pack, do not get close to it; contact a light Science Company or an authorized dealer.
  • Do not use water to extinguish a fire; use dry powder extinguishers.
  • If the battery leaks electrolyte, avoid contact with the liquid or gas. If exposed, evacuate the area, seek medical treatment, and rinse eyes/skin with running water.
  • If swallowed, induce vomiting and seek medical treatment.
  • If the battery is damaged, contact SEEKENER for handling.
