The BEYOND® Polus® Advanced Ultra Whitening Accelerator (Model: PLS-868UL) is a professional dental device designed for teeth whitening in a clinical setting. It combines halogen light, LED light, and ultrasonic technologies to provide an effective and precise whitening treatment, aiming for 6-8 shades of improvement.
Function Description:
The device utilizes a combination of light sources and ultrasonic technology to activate BEYOND® whitening gels. An advanced light filtration system, containing 200,000 optical fibers, acts as a bridge between the halogen and LED light sources. This system removes harmful heat and ultraviolet (UV) light from the powerful halogen light source and ultrasonic waves before merging the light with emissions from twelve blue LED lights at the front of the lamp head. The resulting light spans the entire blue light whitening spectrum. The ultrasonic technology creates a cavitation process within the accelerator head, forming microbubbles that rupture and release energy, shockwaves, and high pressure. This accelerates physical and chemical reactions in the whitening gel, leading to a more efficient oxidation process. The ULTRASOUND function can be temporarily turned off via the SETTINGS menu on the display screen.
The system also includes an integrated air ionizer purifier, which silently cleans and sanitizes the air in areas larger than 6,000/cm³. This feature helps remove airborne pollutants, allergens, pollen, mold, smoke, unpleasant odors, and dust. The ionizer automatically activates when the device is turned on and can be temporarily deactivated through the SETTINGS menu.
The device features a Touch User Interface (TUI) Control Panel for system operation, allowing users to adjust treatment time, select light intensity (Low/Gentle, Medium/Normal, High/Intense), and choose between Full (dual-arch) or Single (spot) Whitening options. A motorized lamp head allows for height adjustment. The lamp arm is designed for flexibility, with a 340° rotation and a hinge joint that bends downwards up to 90° for optimal positioning.
A remote control is provided for patient use, allowing them to pause/resume treatment, check remaining time, or summon the dentist. It also supports voice instructions for patient welcome, introduction to the procedure, and post-treatment instructions.
The system includes an LED Curing Light/Spot Whitening Device, which can be used for light curing gingival protection or for single-tooth whitening.

Usage Features:
- Lamp Head Attachment: The lamp head attaches to the lamp arm via a threaded joint and a 7-pin circular connector plug. A reset button on the accelerator base can deactivate the light if it stays on after installation.
- Lamp Arm Adjustment: The lamp arm extends from a resting position, with a sensor automatically raising the vertical post to prevent collision with the TUI panel. The arm locks at a 90° angle, can rotate 340°, and has a hinge joint for up to 90° downward bending. For storage, the arm halves align and lock into place, and the vertical post automatically lowers when the machine is turned off.
- Lamp Head Height Adjustment: Height can be adjusted using up/down arrows on the TUI control panel or on the lamp head handles.
- Lamp Head Positioning: A ball joint connects the lamp head to the arm for optimal rotation, with handles for easy positioning.
- TUI Control Panel: Features include HOME, TIME adjustment, Treatment Cycle Timer, TREATMENT GUIDE (for treatment plans, sensitivity control, color rebound prevention, home whitening maintenance), START/PAUSE, CANCEL, MODE (light intensity), WHITENING RANGE (Full/Single), HEIGHT adjustment, SETTINGS (voice instructions, ultrasound ON/OFF, purification ON/OFF, total usage time, help), Temperature/Cooling Fan Indicator, Air Ionizer Purifier Indicator, Ultrasonic Cavitation Phenomena Indicator, Dual-arch/Spot Whitening Indicator, and Light Mode Indicator.
- Demo Mode: Activated by pressing and holding the Polus icon/logo for three seconds, demonstrating light activation and vertical arm movement.
- Whitening Treatment Procedure: Detailed steps for pre-treatment, dual-arch (power) whitening, and single-tooth (spot) whitening are provided, including gel application, lamp head positioning, and post-treatment care.
- LED Curing Light/Spot Whitening Device Usage: Connects to the main machine. The curing light function offers 15s intense light (one click) or 5s ramp-up + 20s intense light (two clicks). The spot whitening device can be handheld or secured to the lamp head.
- Emergency Bypass: In case of electrical outage, a red button (A) at the base bypasses other functions to allow only the machine light to turn on for procedure completion. Another red button (B) mechanically lowers the arm to its default position.
Maintenance Features:
- Halogen Bulb Replacement: Requires turning off the accelerator, removing screws from the lamp head, unhinging the wire cage, and replacing the bulb. Recommended replacement after 500 hours of use. A spare halogen bulb is included.
- Device Cleaning: After each treatment, the lamp head and concave light output window should be cleaned with a disinfectant spray and wiped dry. The accelerator should not be unplugged until the cooling fan turns off.
- LED Curing Light/Spot Whitening Device Cleaning: Disposable sleeves are required for the fiber light-transmission tube to prevent cross-contamination. The device cannot be sterilized, submerged, or autoclaved.
- LED Curing Light/Spot Whitening Device Maintenance: Handle the fiber light-transmission tube carefully to avoid damage. Spare rubber o-rings are provided for replacement if the existing one becomes loose.
- Whitening Gel Storage: Gels must be refrigerated near 5°C/40°F. Do not use if the foil package is unsealed, gel leakage is evident, gel is not viscous, or the syringe plunger is pushed out.
- Remote Control Battery Replacement: Requires opening the back cover, gently pulling the circuit board, and replacing the CR2032 coin battery. Spare batteries can be ordered or purchased from electronic stores.
