  If the pump motor doesn't run when switched on, turn the fan on to check for power. If the fan doesn't start, inspect the breaker and ensure the cord is plugged in. If the fan works, check for power to and through the pump switch when it's on. Also, ensure the cooler is filled with water, as the pump automatically shuts off if the water level is too low. Fill the water reservoir.

  If the motor overheats, shuts off, and restarts, the extension cord gauge might be too small, so replace it with a heavier cord. Ensure the inlet air isn't obstructed and has at least 3 ft (0.9 m) of clearance from the wall. A faulty motor could also be the cause, so consider replacing it.

  If the pump runs but doesn't pump water, there might be an air lock in the outlet side of the pump; try turning it off and on to bleed it. Also, ensure the impeller is turning in the pump; if not, replace the pump.

  Water overflowing from the reservoir could be due to a loose float valve hose at the bulkhead fitting or at the float valve; tighten the connections and/or replace the hose washers. High water pressure might also prevent the float valve from shutting off (120 PSI max), so reduce water pressure by adding an inline reducer. Lastly, the float valve might not be properly seated, so check all hoses for leaks.
