Overview

The BIOS Living Digital Analog Scale, model SC427, is a precision weighing device designed for personal use, incorporating state-of-the-art electronics for accurate measurements. It features both digital and analog displays, providing users with two ways to read their weight. The digital display is complemented by a blue backlight, enhancing readability, especially in low-light conditions.

One of the key functionalities of this scale is its auto power ON/OFF feature, which means the unit automatically turns on when a user steps on it and powers off after a period of inactivity, conserving battery life. It also includes an auto zero reset function to ensure accurate starting measurements. The scale is equipped with a reminder alarm, which can be set to prompt users to measure their weight at regular intervals. When activated, an alarm icon appears on the screen, and the scale will beep every 24 hours from the time the alarm is set. Stepping on the scale during the alarm will stop the beeping; otherwise, it will continue for 25 seconds before stopping. The alarm can be turned off by pressing the 24H/ALARM button again, which will make the alarm icon disappear from the LCD.

For user convenience, the scale offers unit conversion between pounds (LB) and kilograms (KG) via a switch located on the bottom of the device. This allows users to choose their preferred unit of measurement. The scale also includes indicators for low battery and overload conditions, alerting users to potential issues.

To use the scale, it must be placed on a solid, level surface. Users should gently step onto the scale, and it will automatically turn on. Once a steady reading is taken, the display will flash three times and then show the weight. The weight reading will remain on the screen for five seconds after the user steps off the scale before it powers off. It is crucial to place the scale on a firm surface, as soft surfaces like carpets or uneven floors can lead to inaccurate results or error messages.

Maintenance of the BIOS Living Digital Analog Scale is straightforward. For battery installation, the battery cover on the base of the scale should be gently removed. Three AAA batteries are then inserted into the compartment, ensuring correct polarity. The LCD display will briefly turn on for five seconds and then turn off, indicating successful battery installation. After inserting the batteries, the cover should be replaced. To calibrate the scale, users should tap the center of the scale once to turn it on; it will then enter calibration mode, and "LO" will appear on the display once the test is complete. It is important to insert batteries with correct polarity to avoid permanent damage to the device.

General care guidelines include avoiding weighing with wet feet to prevent slipping and keeping the scale in a horizontal position away from wet or hot conditions. Users should also avoid hitting or dropping the scale and placing heavy items on it when not in use, as overloading can damage the sensor. The scale is a precise electronic instrument and should be treated with care. It should not be immersed in water. Cleaning should be done with a soft, damp cloth, and harsh chemicals or abrasives should be avoided. The scale surface should always be kept dry to prevent slipping.

For battery maintenance, it is recommended to remove the batteries if the scale will not be used for long periods to prevent damage. Batteries should be kept out of reach of children, and old and new batteries or batteries of different compositions should not be mixed. Batteries should also not be heated or deformed or exposed to fire.

Troubleshooting common issues is also covered. If the display shows "LO," it indicates low battery power, and the solution is to replace the batteries with new ones. If the scale is overloaded, users should step off the scale to prevent possible damage. If the needle indicator is not returning to zero, it means the scale needs to be reset; this can be done by removing the batteries, waiting 10 seconds, and then re-inserting them.
