eabinet
is
removed for

Not
only
does this
present
a
dangerous
shoek
hazard, but
damage to test
instruments
or
the
equipment
under
test
may
result from eonneeting
the
ground
lead
of most
test instruments
(ineluding
this oseilloseope)
to a'fhot ehas-
sisrr.
To
make
measurements in
tthot
ehassisrt
equipment,
always
eonneet an
isolation
transformer between
the
ae outlet
and the equipment under
test. The B

K-Preeision
Model
TR-110 Isolation Transformer, or Model
1653 or 1655
AC
Power
Supply
is
suitable for most
applieations.
To be on the safe side, treat all two-wire ae
powered
equipment as
I'hot
ehassist' unless
you
are sure
it
has
an isolated ehassis or an earth
ground
ehassis.
Speeial
preeautions
are required to measure or observe line voltage waveforms with
any oseilloseope. Use the
following
proeedure:

the
ground
elip of
the
probe
to either side of the line,

elip
is
already
at earth
ground
and touching it to the
hot side of
the
line
may
rrweldft
or
rrdisintegratett
the
probe
tip and eause
possible
injury,
plus possible
damage to the
seope or
probe.

Insert
probe
tip into one side
of
the
line
voltage reeeptaele, then the other. One
side
of
the
reeeptaele should be
nhotil
and
produee
the waveform.
The other side
of
the
reeeptaele is the ae return
and
no waveform
should
result.
Never work alone. Someone should be
nearby to
render
aid
if
neeessary.
Training
in
CPR
(eardio-pulmonary
resuseitation)
first aid
is
highly
reeommended.
