Function Description:
The BLACK+DECKER Smart LED Under Cabinet Lighting system is designed to illuminate kitchen countertops and other under-cabinet areas. It consists of LED light bars, a smart control box, an AC adapter, and various connecting wires and mounting hardware. The system offers smart control features, allowing users to adjust brightness, color temperature, and turn lights on/off via voice commands, a mobile app (Alexa), or physical buttons on the control box. It supports both split and continuous configurations to adapt to different cabinet layouts and power source locations.
Usage Features:
- Smart Control Box: The central component for controlling the lighting system. It includes a motion sensor, indicator light, power/brightness button, color tuning button, and inputs for jumper wires and the power cord.
- Power/Brightness Button: Allows users to turn the lights on or off and adjust brightness. Waving a hand within 2 inches of the motion sensor can also activate this function. Pressing and holding this button cycles through 10 preset brightness levels (10%-100%).
- Color Tuning Button: Enables users to toggle between different color temperature settings: Soft White (3000K), White (4000K), and Daylight (5000K).
- Motion Sensor: Detects motion to allow for hands-free operation of the power/brightness function.
- Alexa™ Integration: The system can be paired with Amazon Alexa for voice control and app-based management. This allows for commands like "Alexa, turn my cabinet lights on," "Alexa, turn my cabinet lights off," "Alexa, turn my cabinet lights to soft white," "Alexa, dim my cabinet lights," or "Alexa, dim my cabinet lights to X%."
- Alexa™ Routines: Users can create custom routines through the Alexa app to automate lighting actions based on schedules, locations, or specific voice commands. For example, a "Let's cook" routine could turn on under cabinet lights to natural daylight temperature at full brightness and play cooking music. A "Good morning" routine could turn on lights to a warm light temperature at 20% brightness and activate a coffee maker.
- Alexa™ Groups: The lighting system can be grouped with other smart devices in a room for synchronized control, such as "Alexa, turn on the kitchen," which could turn on both under cabinet lights and overhead lights.
- Nightlight Mode: A specific setting offering 30% brightness with a 5-hour timer. This can be enabled or disabled via Alexa voice commands ("Alexa, enable night mode on cabinet lights" or "Alexa, disable night mode on cabinet lights").
- Flexible Layouts: The system supports both "split" and "continuous" configurations. A split configuration is used when the power source is centrally located, linking light bars from both sides of the control box. A continuous configuration is used when the power source is on one side, linking light bars from a single side of the control box.
- Expandability: Different lengths of light bars (9", 18", 24") can be linked together. Jumper wires and jumper wire extenders (including a 108" Stove & Sink Jumper Wire, LEDJUMP108, available for purchase) provide flexibility in connecting light bars across gaps or around obstacles like sinks and stoves.
- Tool-Free Installation (primarily): The system is designed for an easy, largely tool-free installation process, though a power drill may be needed for routing wires through cabinet walls or frames.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning: The exterior of the light should only be cleaned with a dry, clean cloth. It should not be immersed in water.
