How to fix Black olive PELLET that will not turn on?
    • J
      joelyoderAug 16, 2025
If your Black Olive Grill won't turn on, first check that it's properly plugged into a working outlet. If it is plugged in, and after a long period of non-use in a colder climate, try cycling the control knob between the OFF and LOW settings about 20 times. This may help to get it functioning correctly.

What to do if Black Olive Grill won't light (no feed)?
    • R
      Ricky Johnson DDSAug 18, 2025
If your Black Olive Grill isn't lighting (no feed), the hopper might be empty. Refill it with dry, food-grade pellets. Alternatively, the drop tube, auger, or hopper tube could be clogged. In this case, you should conduct a proper cleanout as outlined in the Maintenance and Service Section. If the auger or hopper tube is clogged, you can use a long screwdriver to poke at the clog to loosen it, then vacuum the debris. If the auger motor isn't working, conduct a proper cleanout, keep the hopper cleanout cover open, plug the grill back in, and turn the control knob to HIGH to see if the auger turns. If it doesn't, contact your local Black Olive Dealer.

Why does my Black olive PELLET Grill start but have no flame control?
    • S
      Sharon HoffmanAug 22, 2025
If your Black Olive Grill starts but has no flame control, it could be due to an electrical problem. Unplug the grill and check the connections behind the control panel and on the grill base. For further assistance, contact your local Black Olive Dealer. It could also be a faulty timer block. Turn the grill ON and listen to the auger for variations in off-time when set to LOW and then HIGH. The correct off time for LOW is 9 sec. and for HIGH is 0.5 sec. If there is no change between LOW and HIGH contact your local Black Olive Dealer.

      Amanda BaileyAug 25, 2025
If your Black Olive Grill is not lighting (no ignition), first, turn the grill to HIGH and check the ash pan for fresh pellets. If there are no pellets, it's a feed problem. If pellets are present, look for an orange glow in the burn tube from the top of the grill. If there's no glow, the ignitor isn't working. In this case, consult the Technical Specifications or contact your local Black Olive Dealer. If an orange glow is present, check the ignitor air pump and hose for leaks.

Why does my Black Olive Grill have an erratic or sooty flame?
    • M
      Megan GreerAug 28, 2025
An erratic or sooty flame on your Black Olive Grill can occur for several reasons: - Ensure the grill is turned ON. - Make sure the ash pan is closed. - Refill the hopper with dry food-grade pellets if it's almost empty. - Adjust the control knob to a lower setting. - Inspect and clean the burn tube bottom if it's dirty. - Clean the burn tube if there's ash buildup. - Check for airflow through the vent on the grill's base to ensure the combustion blower is working; if not, contact your local Black Olive Dealer. - Ensure you are using only dry food grade pellets, because a fuel with a high BTU rating will cause the grill flame to soot.

Why my Black Olive grill does not achieve high temperature?
    • M
      Mary ShahAug 30, 2025
If your Black Olive grill does not achieve high temperature, make sure the grill is not in smoke mode. Push the smoke switch on the control panel to GRILL. Also, fuel with incorrectly sized pellets will have a slower feed rate and will cause the grill to burn colder. A fuel with excess amounts of loose sawdust will also affect the feed rate and thus the temperature acheived on the grill. Refer to the pictures below to aid in selecting the correct fuel.

    • S
      stacy86Sep 8, 2025
Under certain temperatures, your Black Olive Grill may bead or sweat. This is normal. The grill is made of a naturally porous ceramic material that holds moisture and releases it when heated, both inside and outside the grill.
