Overview

This document describes the 8STREME Robotic Pool Cleaner, an autonomous device designed to simplify pool maintenance.

Function Description

The 8STREME Robotic Pool Cleaner is an autonomous cleaner that efficiently cleans swimming pools. It is designed to gather various types of debris using a large and efficient filter basket. The cleaner operates underwater and is equipped with features to prevent cord tangling and optimize cleaning patterns. It is not designed to clean steps.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Recommended Pool Water Conditions for Optimum Performance:
    • PH level: 7.0 – 8.0
    • Alkalinity: 80 – 160 ppm
    • Calcium Hardness: 150 – 400 ppm
  • Operating Water Temperature: 41-100°F (5-38°C)
  • Power Supply: The power supply should be kept at least 6 ft from the pool edge. Electrical outlets must be properly grounded and have a Ground Fault Current Interrupter (GFCI) protected. The power supply should not be connected to an extension cord and must be kept out of water.
  • Cord Length: The cleaner comes with two sections of floating cord: a short cord attached to the robot with a blue connector, and a long cord with black connectors that connects to the power supply. An optional extension cord can be ordered for pools deeper than 8ft.
  • Cleaning Cycle: The pool cleaner runs for 3 hours and then shuts down automatically. A new cycle can be initiated after a 30-second wait.
  • Filtration: It includes a large and efficient filter basket and a fine filtration kit. Optional fine filter pads are available.

Usage Features

  • Cord Floaters: Foam tubes split along their length help the cord stay on top of the water surface, minimizing tangling. These should be spaced approximately 4-6 ft apart along the floating cord length inside the pool.
  • Side Suction: This feature extends the cleaning path for faster debris collection. However, it should NOT be used with uneven pool bottoms or pool liners with pleats. To enable, turn the cleaner upside down, place the side suction flap onto the suction channel, and tighten the screw.
  • Swivel Connection: The square swivel has blue and black connector ends. The blue plug connects to the blue socket, and the black plug connects to the black socket. Polarity must be checked to ensure correct insertion. The swivel is designed to float on the water surface.
  • Power Supply Connection: Ensure the power supply toggle switch is in the OFF position before connecting the long floating cord. The plug can only be inserted in one direction. Screw the black nut on the cord tightly onto the power supply.
  • Pool Cleaner Placement: Place the robotic cleaner at the farthest spot from the power supply. Use just enough cord length in the pool to reach the power supply; excess cord can lower performance or cause tangling. Ensure the robot is fully submerged, rolling it slightly if needed to release all air.
  • Operation: Turn on the power supply by pressing the toggle switch towards ON. A blue LED light will turn on, and the cleaner will begin its 3-hour cycle.
  • Direction and Speed Control:
    • Direction Adjust: Rotate the outlet cover to adjust the robot's turning direction. The robot turns opposite to where the indicator points.
    • Flap Settings:
      • For round pools, it's recommended that flaps at both ends do not share the same direction. The flap at the hinge end should be straight, and the front flap rotated.
      • For rectangular pools, the flap at the hinge end should be straight, and the front flap rotated all the way to the side.
    • Speed Control: The cleaner works best at medium speed. For fine debris, slow down the speed by partially opening the flap. If the filter bag is dirty, fully open the flap for more push.
    • Flap Adjust: Slide the red tab towards the "bunny" for higher speed or towards the "turtle" for lower speed.
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Do not operate the robot cleaner if people are in the pool.
    • Do not operate the robot cleaner out of water, as it will damage the cleaner.
    • Do not operate with a damaged cord or power supply.
    • Do not operate if the robotic cleaner is damaged.
    • Remove the robotic cleaner from the swimming pool if not in use.

Maintenance Features

  • Filter Bag Cleaning:
    1. Pull the tab at the front of the cleaner and lift the top shell until it clicks and stays in place.
    2. Lift the filter basket from the front until it clicks.
    3. Open the debris basket, dump out debris, and use a hose to spray water and clean the basket and filter screen.
    4. Place and push the filter basket back into the robot until it clicks and locks in place.
  • Fine Filter Pad Cleaning (Optional):
    1. Remove the debris basket and open it.
    2. Unhook the elastic band, take out the fine filter pad, and place it on the underside of the filter screen frame (do not fold or compress).
    3. Hook the rubber band to hold the filter pad.
    4. To clean, remove the pad from the frame.
    5. Gently hand-wash the filter pad under running water. Note that discoloration may not completely wash away. Over-washing can damage the filter.
    6. Replace the fine filter pad after heavy cleaning or a few cycles, as its effectiveness will diminish.
  • Storage:
    1. To remove the cleaner from the pool, pull the floating cord until the cleaner is within arm's reach. DO NOT continue pulling the cord; use the cleaner's handle to lift it out of the water.
    2. Slowly lift the cleaner and allow water to drain. Place it at the pool edge if needed for continued draining.
    3. Unplug the power supply and untangle the floating cord.
    4. Hose wash the entire cleaner inside out before storing it for the winter, paying special attention to the impeller blade and mounting screws.

Troubleshooting

  • Robot not moving/Pump not operating:
    • Check if the electrical socket is working and if the GFCI has triggered. Reset if needed.
    • Unplug the power supply for 30 seconds, then plug back in and press the power button.
    • Check all connections from robot to power supply.
    • Unplug the power supply, take the robot out of the water, open it, and inspect for foreign objects blocking the impeller or rollers.
    • Contact 8streme at www.8streme.com.
  • Robot moving in only 1 direction:
    • Check if the power supply is plugged in.
    • Unplug the power supply, take the robot out of the water, open it, and inspect for foreign objects blocking the impeller or rollers. Ensure rollers spin freely.
  • Robot not picking up debris when running over it:
    • Clean the filter bag and fine filter pad (if used).
    • Check if the filter bag frame is inserted properly.
    • Check for foreign objects in the impeller or lodged in the grill above the impeller.
    • Adjust the speed setting to a lower level.

Indicator Light and Diagnostics

  • Indicator A (Power Supply Blue LED): Stays on when the power supply is plugged into the wall outlet and the toggle switch is pressed towards ON, indicating normal power supply function. Otherwise, check the wall outlet or replace the power supply.
  • Indicator B (Swivel Blue LED): Lights up when the floating cord between the power supply and the NO-TWIST swivel is connected properly. Otherwise, check connections or replace the floating cord.
  • Indicator C (Pool Robot Green LED): Only turns on when the pool robot is working. This green LED will not be lit after the pool robot has finished its cleaning cycle or if the robot needs to stop briefly during cleaning. Otherwise, replace the pool robot pump.
  • Indicator D (Blue Connector End Tiny Red Light): When the NO-TWIST swivel is connected to the power supply, both power supply blue LED (A) and swivel blue LED (B) are on, there is a tiny red light at the blue connector end. This indicates the NO-TWIST swivel functions normally. Otherwise, replace this swivel.
